Clantons win this one

by gwaltney53

I?ve tried OK Corral several times over the years. It has some decent BBQ ambience. The owner and his family are really nice but I have never been impressed with the food. After reading all the glowing reviews on Citysearch I decided to give it another try. Did my opinion change? Sadly, it did not. Although the hush puppies were good and the sauce was excellent, it went downhill from there. A lot of people like their barbeque ?falling off the bone tender.? Not my ideal but there is always room for more than one style. These ribs however were mush. What I was served could have been eaten with a spoon! Maybe the ribs were cooked too long. It seemed to me that they were held and reheated too many times. The same was true of all the meats. Their texture made it seem as if they had been cooked held and reheated until the consistency was like Underwood Deviled Ham. Everything tasted about the same. Though the sauce is great every item was smothered with it. The ribs, chicken, brisket, even the beans were doused. The quality of the ingredients used was not the best. The hot link (also smothered) was the kind of processed pickled ?sausage? that used to be found in local taverns about 30 years ago. The beans were a mix of canned ingredients. Not OK.

Not up to par with real BBQ

by joebugmenot

Over-cooked chicken, boiled meat, ok collards, decent cobbler. All for under $20, the Hookup will easily feed two. But if you're looking for good Texas style bbq, keep looking. This is sauce based bbq. The sauce has got a little heat and is tasty enough, but the meat is disappointing. The collards and beans are nothing to write home about. Try this place if you have a chance. Some like and some don't. Good old fashioned homey joint.

Amazing BBQ, you cannot beat it!

by Yoodle

This place is fantastic!! You would never believe it from the outside or after you're invited to sit on an old pickup bench seat but the first time you taste the chicken/ribs/catfish, collard greens, beans & rice and the oh-so-yummy hush puppies you'll know why you're there and why it's always busy. I love this place. There are usually not menus. The drink is whatever happens to be on tap (it could be kool aid, OJ & 7-up, fruit juice, who knows). You refill your own glass, you're eating off regular plates not thick restaurant plates. You're part of the family and Otis (the owner) is always there to make sure you're enjoying what you eat. I can't say enough good things about this, we make a point to eat here whenever we're on the west side of the lake. It's that good!

  • Pros: Great food, highly affordable, never leave hungry, and really fun in general.
  • Cons: Bring cash not credit/debit.

Amazing.

by tonkatsu4life

Apparently 'uscg' is more of an Outback Steakhouse kinda guy. Or just retarded. Probably both..

OK is literally "the best place to eat in Seattle". Yes, it's not pretty inside. Yes, the only option besides water is red Kool-Aid. But if you can get over this and not be a baby like Mr. Sunset Magazine readin' USCG, get ready for the most incredible meal of your life.

It will fulfill your wildest dreams.

On the lookout for good BBQ I followed up on an article in Sunset Magazine and ate at the OK Corral BBQ - It was the most discusting BBQ meal I have ever had and how anyone could think that it is good is beyond belief.

I risked my JOB for this BBQ!

by brightblueeyes

The majority of the customers at the OK Corrall are loyal patrons. There's good reason for this: the BBQ is mind-blowingly good. I'm a fan of vinegar based BBQ, and in a sea of too-sweet smokehouses this down-home spot is a blessing. The "hook-up" is melt-in-your-mouth chicken, scalding hotlinks, robust ribs, greens, the "Best" pinto beans and rice I've ever had, and fantastic hush puppies or corn bread. Enough food for 2 people under $20.oo, I found myself bringing the leftovers to work for lunch the next day. My boss came by and snatched one of my ribs away from me! She returned after finishing the rib and told me that if I didn't pick up a jar of that phenominal sauce the next time I visited Otis I shouldnt bother coming back to work. Needless to say, she got her sauce, and I have my favorite Seattle Secret bbq!

Why else...

by ezamp

do you go out to eat? To have good food you cannot cook at home. I wouldn't recommend as a date place by any means, but to have good southern BAR-B-QUE, this is the place, and I am from Florida. You won't even need to chew.. food melts in your mouth. I recommend the "hook-up" for your first visit because it comes with all the meat they offer (except the fish). They don't let you call ahead to make an order because they are a super small establishment.. but you won't mind the wait, I promise!

  • Pros: Awesome food, Real Barbque
  • Cons: Old building, Wait staff

I was stunned

by man4pnw

I kept seeing this barbecue going on out of this old house when they first started with a make shift sign. The scent was heavenly so I decided to give it a try. The ambiance was strange. a bunch of old kitchen tables in what use to be the living room people just sitting around and waiting. I felt like I party crashing at someones house. I asked for a combo plater and the waiter said he would get me hooked up. He wasn't kidding. This food is good. I think of this place more of a take out than a restuarant. If you're in the neighborhood and in the mood give it a shot.

  • Pros: good food, funky atmosphere
  • Cons: funky atmosphere, parking

Seattles Best BBQ

by tandjnorton

Otis the cook is a BBQ GOD! The Ok Coral is what it is, a BBQ shack. Be prepared and leave your suit behind so your not embarrassed and you don't make the other 10 patrons uncomfortable (15 is close to max occupancy.) Besides, you wouldn't want to drip any of the best spicy, yummy, finger lickin' bbq that a southern boxer could concoct. He'll smother it on the slow smoked, falling of the bone ribs and lip numbing hot links. On rare occassions he'll whip up gumbo and greens but you'll probably just get the "Hook-UP" which is the best value and not to be underestimated. Don't forget to grab a mason of punch to wash this down. We travel from Portland for his whitty humor and huge hushpuppy portions. The OK is more than OK by us.

  • Pros: inexpensive, seating availability, friendly
  • Cons: Price are rising, not enough gumbo

Not "OK" BBQ

by funnyhaha

I was so disappointed in this place. The service was terrible and the food was even worse. They microwaved the food to serve us right in front of us. Three of the sides that were supposed to be included in the meal were missing and no one told us until after our food arrived, yet they charged us the full price. The BBQ was overcooked and tasteless. Buyer Beware!!!!
