Good tasty food--but overpriced! Establishment itself was a bit dirty when we last visited. There was some "dirty, wet dog" smell emanating from somewhere, but we couldn't figure it out. Also, when I ordered a Pina Colada from their bar, it virtually had no alcohol and I am a lightweight, so I would've noticed if there was even a reasonable amount in it.

Pros: Food, Parking

Cons: Prices, Alcohol missing from my drink

My wife and I have been to this restaurant before, although the first time was fairly near the time they originally opened. This time was a Saturday night and when we first pulled up, we were hesitant to go in because there was a large group of people standing inside the front door and it looked like a long wait. My wife went in to check anyway and fortunately it was only one large group of six waiting for a table to clear. We were seated promptly at a table for two near the bar and given menus by the hostess. We decided on what we wanted fairly quickly and waited for our waitperson. And we waited. And we waited. Twenty minutes later we assumed it was our waitperson that took our order. I requested we receive our soup as an appetizer and our two plates as entrees. (I looked over my wife's shoulder and there sat the large group of six that was still waiting for their table when we first arrived -- sitting there eating their meal.) Looking around the restaurant, I couldn't figure out why it took so long to be waited on. They were busy but there were empty tables. After about 15 minutes, one of our entrees came, delivered by a different waitperson. Getting hungry, we didn't say anything, happy to receive anything we could get. Fifteen minutes later, the soup came. By the time we were just about done with both, the last entree came -- all of this delivered by a different waitperson each time. In all fairness, the food was wonderful. But it was like the staff was just going through the motions and I've never felt so invisible in a restaurant before. It ruined our Saturday night. (By the time we got our check, the table of six was long gone.) I thought it was generous to leave a 10% tip -- I hadn't done that in years!

Pros: Food was great! Plenty of parking.

Cons: Poor service, slow service, and unattentive service.

OMG--only in France, have I been so ignored by the wait staff. You would think I appeared to have all the time in the world. The food is inconsistent, I find that when I'm with an indian friend they are much nicer and the food MUCH BETTER. So, I am wearing my indian shirt and fake tan lotion to ensure my experience tonight will be better.Wish me luck!!!

Pros: when its good its good

Very good food, but the staff is not very friendly if you're black. If you are black, don't hesitate to go there. But also don't hesistate to call them out when they put you near the bathroom, throw your chopsticks on the table, and are otherwise rude.

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. I was promptly seated and my order was taken. It was at around 1:30 pm, so it was fairly busy. Server came back to me after 30 mins to confirm that I'd ordered. When I said I did, he asked me for the name of the dish, which ofcourse I've forgotten. I asked him to give me the menu so that I can tell him which dish I ordered. His response was a grunt, which I thought was very rude. When I told him that the dish I ordered was "Nasi Lemak" after looking at the menu, he went back and seemed to enter it in the system. I had my dish in another 10 mins. A soup was served in the mean time, which was not good. My dish was ok, but chicken could have been better cooked. I think I'll give them another shot.

Pros: Prompt seating, low price, decent food

Cons: bad service.

I have to admit we are picky eaters. We eat all around the world and try to sample the best Asian food there is. Taiwan, HK, Tokyo, Indonesia, and the chinatowns of various major cities, etc. etc. We live close by Malay so every so often we forget our previous commitment to never come again and this Saturday we forgot again. We got coconot fried rice, which had no shred of coconot in it. The curry seafood hot put looked like curry, but tasted very blank. We also suspected the hot put had been standing there for hours as everything was mushy and spongy. The Indonesian chicken was so-so. The only highlight was the $2.95 roti. I almost forgot to tell that we received the desert at the start of our meal, and when we sent it away we found later that we received a half thawed (shaved ice) desert. Amazing. The waiter was surprised and looked annoyed that we did not want to eat it at the start at our dinner. How rude. It was still eatable, so the appetizer and desert were the highlights. Everything in between was not. We never go there again. We will not forget this time.

Pros: Nice appetizer and deserts

Cons: The rest of the food is not worth it

Last weekend I returned to the Malay Satay Hut several years after my initial meal there. I can say wholeheartedly that never again will I go so long between visits! The service was very good, with our group of six seated promptly for Sunday lunch. Dishes arrived after ordering in amazing time, and every morsel was enjoyed. Highest marks go to the green beans cooked with shrimp paste, roasted eggplant in sambal sauce, and Hokkien Mee noodles with seafood. Also good were the pineapple fried rice and mango chicken. The beef curry was perhaps a bit tough, but still with excellent flavor. Entrées were shared family-style and at $6 8 per plate for generous servings, the meal was economical and resulted in plenty of leftovers.

Pros: Superb food, excellent value, generous portions

Cons: Parking a bit of a challenge

Having recently moved to this area from San Fran, we are constantly looking for Asian restaurants in the Seattle-area that would prevent us from driving up to Vancouver for our fix. We have finally found our spot to quench our craving for Malaysian food. The food here is very tasty, from roti canai and satays to their curry beef (beef rendang). Overall, the prices are a bit higher than what we were used to in SF, but it sure beats driving. Our only complaint is the service. Once our server took our order he was GONE! Never did he check on us to see if we were doing ok or see that our water glasses were filled. He was quite cocky too, not having to write any of our order down. Take out next time.

Pros: Food, Clean environment

Cons: poor service, bit expensive

I have been going to the restaurant for close to 8-9 years now and have noticed that the quality has degraded since the expansion. It seems that when the owner is at one of his restaurants, the quality seems to be better probably because of his oversight. Some days, the quality of same dishes that I order frequently have been widely inconsistent, ranging from excellent to mediocre. I'm hoping that the owner reads these reviews and take them as constructive criticism to improve and standardize the quality of his menu. The wait staff aren't very customer friendly overall. I will still continue going to the restaurant, but sometimes it's hit and miss on the quality.

Pros: good food overall, unique

Cons: inconsistent quality, unfriendly wait staff

I work right down the street from the location in Redmond and decided to give it try since it appeared to always be busy. The food is amazing and the menu choices are incredible with a mixture of Thai, Chinese and Indidan dishes. I would agree with previous reviewers that the service isn't the best but this is certainly one of those places where you can forgive the bad service for the great food. Lunch specials are a great value at $6.45 to $6.95 and portions are huge. This really is one of the better Asian rest. on the eastside!

Pros: awesome food, great menu, good value
