I went to the Bodhi Salon about 4 years ago when I first moved to Bay Ridge. They were excellent; very professional, respectful and fashionable. I moved and started going to a different salon, but did not get nearly the fabulous service that I came to expect so I went back to Bodhi. Even though I'm there about 4 times a year, they still remember me and my past haircuts. It's always a comfortable experience and I feel at-home there. When I ask for a cut, Jean-Marc will style it to fit my face. Another great thing - when Jean-Marc is cutting my hair, he's very good at feeling my vibe - if I'm tired and don't want to converse, he doesn't push it. He also teaches me how to work with my hair (because I'm very low key). I love their style and I am always, ALWAYS excited with what I come out with.

I like this salon! There was a lot of drama the day I was there, which kept me more than entertained! My cut was good, but not good enough to make me neeeed to go back. I didn't really bond with my stylist either. But that's okay, I'm glad to know it's there if I can't get in with my current stylist. Best of all, the cut cost less than I was expecting. I have really long hair, so you know how expensive that can be!!!

I first started going to Bodhi about a year ago after finding them on CitySearch, and even though I no longer live in Brooklyn and have since moved to Manhattan, I still trek all the way to Bay Ridge for them! The best thing about Bodhi is that I never feel rushed being there. Jean-Marc and Adeline totally take their time with me and are always really responsive, and respectful, of what I want done. I get my hair cut and colored by them, and I am NEVER disappointed. They are so casual - I always feel comfortable there - and yet they are consummately professional and are true experts in their respective crafts. Jean-Marc is like a mind-reader; sometimes he knows what I want more than I do! Adeline is truly an artist, and always makes my color look beautiful, yet different, each time I visit. Their rates are totally reasonable and a great value for the services they provide. I have nothing but good things to say about Bodhi, they truly feel like a family here and I recommend them to everyone I know!

My friend recommended Bodhi, but before I committed to an appointment, I had to make sure that they would use cruelty-free products (products not tested on animals). They were respectful and accomodating of my needs in this regard, and so I booked. To my delight I was greeted by a lovely dog named Enzo, who is exceptionally well behaved. Enzo's hair looked better than mine when I arrived, but Jean-Marc and Adeline were polite, listened attentively to my preferences, and recommended a course of action that would get my hair back in shape from the dried out, multi-colored mess that it was. There wasn't any "hard sell" for treatments or products. I have to mention the hair washing chair - it was unique in that most make your neck hurt, but the one Bodhi has reclines so that there isn't any neck strain. The team is also much gentler with my hair than I was used to - most stylists don't pay attention when ripping the comb through my hair, pulling on my scalp and breaking the already fragile strands. After the treamtents I looked great. And here I am 2 weeks later and my hair still looks great and styles easily. In response to their cancellation policy, the complainer in the previous review should know that this is pretty standard protocol with any quality spa or hair professional since common courtesy is no longer in style... My experience at Bodhi was great and I look so much better now. Thank you Adeline and Jean-Marc!
Pros: cruelty free, high quality products; polite and talented staff
Cons: none

I moved to the area a little over 4 years ago and have walked passed Bodhi Salon many times on my way to other appointments, wondering if it was just like so many of the other little hair places in Bay Ridge (but with fun window decoration!). Well, I decided to take a chance the other day and could not be happier that I did. I was greeted by a friendly Jean-Marc, who directed me to the receptionist when I indicated that I had questions about the rates. Then came a thorough and friendly consultation with Adeline about the color correction I want to have done. Finally, I was able to book an appointment for that same day and walked out with an incredible style at the hands of Jean-Marc. The credit card/cancellation policy is totally reasonable from a business standpoint and shouldn't be a reason to not try this salon. And when I had to cancel my color appointment for the following week due to a cat-related issue, the receptionist even wished my cat well! Bodhi has a new customer for life!
Pros: Friendly professionals and staff
Cons: none that i could find

Passing Bodhi by on the street I wouldn't think it was anything to write home about but my experience here was great. The decor is nothing special and they have a pet dog (who was totally docile). I was really impressed because I have had a lot of difficulty getting hair stylists to color my hair how I want. At Bodhi they listened to what I wanted and did it. The stylists offered excellent suggestions and showed me techniques to use at home so that I could get the same look when doing my hair. Nice. I will be coming back.
Pros: skilled stylists, excellent results, friendly staff, didn't push products
Cons: website recommends walk ins but I had to wait, window artwork bad, dog?

I decided to try out this salon after reading the great reviews on the site. I called to make an appointment ...the receptionist was not very friendly and advised me that I need to give them my credit card number in order to make an appointment. What kind of policy is that? . Its a shame.

I feel personally indebted to them for their patience and humor since I came in looking like a 50 year old hag after an ugly battle with a red hair dye. Instead of having a healthy laugh at my expense, they turned me into a very attractive, giddy 20 year-old (ok - may be 25 - even better). I am a haircolor junkie - i have been addicted to changing my hair and style avery few months. And not just changing it - I mean i would attempt to look like a different person completely. My drivers license has nothing to do with my look. Over the last 20 years i have managed to turn my hair into a veritable chemical war zone. When I came to Bodhi, I was a disaster. My hair has been so over-processed, it basically need to be politely shaved off with extra charge for hazardous exposure. Adeline restored the texture, reverted the color scheme to a human spectrum and made it look and feel like a silky golden mane. Jean-Marc quickly and easily found and removed the horrible freezy ends, waved something looking expensively electric and highly specialized, and Voíla! Within 10 minutes I was not just presentable again, I became younger, cuter and pleasing to the eye of most beholders. Yes, I recommend these people!!!! I highly recommend them! I feel like I owe them flowers and expensive favors. The quality and the result of whatever you chose to have done to yourself - is nothing but FANTASTIC. Jean-Marc and Adeline (the husband-wife team) are super talented professionals whose attention to detail and dedication to achieving perfection is bordering on obsession. Whatever you decide to do, or if you are looking for an advice - Bodhi is the place. It's light and airy, deigned for comfort and un-rushed expediency. Everyone is cheerful, kind, professional, with great sense of humor AND you will always come out more beautiful than you hoped for. They are simply excellent. I don't ever have to go anywhere else. /Katherine.
Pros: Everyone is cheerful, kind, professional, with great sense of humor AND you will always come out more beautiful than you hoped for.
Cons: Not for me - but if you are allergic to dog - they have one (but damn cute)

After getting a disaster of a haircut from another place, I came to Bodhi hoping to fix the problem. They did more than that. Not only does my hair feel amazing, but it's perfect for my face shape. They are very organized, friendly, and truly professional and amazing at what they do.

I highly recommend this salon. Not only the staff was nice, cordial, and friendly, the hairdresser gave me tips on how to handle my hair and what to do to make it look better. I got vitamins from them (and they did not push me to buy). My haircut looks like I just came out of the salon - after 2 weeks. My hair is usually stubborn and hard for me to style and the haircut is just right - each hair goes where it should. Prices are good too.
