Best Apple Fritter in the World

by bizzness

We had done some research before vacationing in Seattle and knew this was one place we could not miss. Our hotel was in the Queen Anne area, so we went to the new location. THE APPLE FRITTER IS HABIT INDUCING. We are now unable to get an apple fritter from anywhere else. It is that good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. There are also pockets of delicious fresh diced apples throughout. I can only dream that one will be opened in Minneapolis. Not to discount the other donuts, all are fabulous. We pretty much made ourselves sick (fritter, chocolate covered peanut, glazed old fashion, plain old fashion), but we couldn't resist. The four donuts and coffee was about $10. Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Apple Fritters and Donuts
  • Cons: Not going

Bring her a box of feather boa, chocolate cruller, maple bar, pink sprinkle, plain old fashioned and an apple fritter. Too bad we will never know if we are loved for ourselves or our ubiquitous box of TOPPOT..... who cares??

Never had a better donut - and I've had A LOT of donuts

by stacie296

I am one of the biggest donut enthusiasts around. I limit myself, however, because I could easily blimp out indulging on the things. So when it's time to treat myself to a donut, it HAS to be a Top ___(this did say the full name of the store, but CitySearch apparently won't let you use the second word of this company in your reviews. lol). I don't have an official Top ___ store in my neighborhood, so I always get my fix at Starbucks. And while some might say $1.50 is a bit high for a donut, I would beg to differ. Yes, that might be high for a Krispy Kreme or a Safeway donut. But not for one of these pieces of perfection. I don't know what Top ___ is doing, but they have truly mastered the art of donut making. I used to get everything from a maple bar to a Boston Creme. But since I tried Top Pots, I've become a purist. I now go for the old fashioned glazed. Wonderfully crunchy on the outside, and richly wonderful on the inside. Did I mention I like these donuts? It's no wonder they are popping up in Starbucks all over the country now. I see big things for the future of this local company. Go Top ___, go!

  • Pros: Everything

Good eats

by whimper

A great neighborhood place to hang out and people watch. I don't know what they did but the cake doughnuts are a lot less greasy than they were a couple months ago. The glazed old fashioned is my favorite.

  • Pros: outside seating, friendly service, great coffee too

Hot java and some of the best donuts around in a stylish spot on Summit.

by Allison Austin

The Scene
Custom bookshelves line walls, and retro skylights punch light into the small space designed and built by the owners of Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square. The room is modern and a throwback all at the same time. Even the clientele is more interesting than the folks you'll find at your average chain--most appear well-read, even if they're not. The baristas are friendly and make a darn fine cup of joe. They're also very helpful when it comes to choosing the best donut that day.

The Food
Capitol Hill residents are going to get fat--these homemade donuts are simply that good. Crullers come in several varieties, including maple-topped and cinnamon-sugar, but the plain glazed are so tasty you just might wake up thinking about them the next day. There are donuts frosted with chocolate and the most endearing shade of bubblegum pink, some with sprinkles, some with coconut.

nice addition to the neighborhood

by mueller981

I really like the selection and flavor of the donuts, although friends of mine comment that they are somewhat greesy. The espresso is tasty and reasonably priced. The main allure of this place is it's ambiance. It looks straight out of the 1950s or early 1960s, like a place beetniks probably frequented. Come early on the weekends because there will likely be a long line. It's a more unique experience than Starbucks and a great addition to the neighborhood. Top Pot is also in Pioneer Square under the name Zeitgeist.

  • Pros: ambiance, tasty espresso, reasonably priced
  • Cons: parking, greesy donuts, long lines

Beacon of Cruller Truth

by IlMarzocco

In a category dominated by appeals to Americana and the allure of a staple comfort food in this great land, Top Pot delivers something more: atmosphere.

Somewhere along the line, it made sense for a coffee shop to appeal to the quasi-European habit of actually doing more at an eatery than just buying, eating and moving on. The art of lingering, whether with a book in hand or while holding hands, while taking in tasty calorific donuts hits a high water mark here.

I can't wait until they open downtown...

  • Pros: Comfortable, Unique, Delicious
  • Cons: Location
