Just to let all the girls(and fellas )know that I have found a stylist that listens!!! If you only want an inch cut off, thats all that comes off, if you want a complete new look, he creates it and if you just want to hang out and look at the art they're cool with that too. My name is Victoria from Queens and my hair is Fab!!!!

What I enjoy most about Midoma is its peaceful atmosphere and personable energy, which is the icing on top of the quality 'cut' I get there every time. The owners are very approachable and friendly, and very professional at the same time. What's great is that before working on the hair, they give you a wonderful wash and scalp massage... 'blissful' is an understatement. It puts your mind and body into another orbit and zone, away from the hectic hustle of the city, making you at once restful and awake. In this new relaxed state, I begin to notice and can take in the beautiful artwork of NY artists on the walls of the salon, which they rotate on a monthly basis or so. I'm always interested to see what will be exhibited there when I return... Try it... you'll love it...

From the moment I walk in and am greeted by Marianna (one of the co-owners), I already feel welcomed and at ease. Then as I walk around the space, my eyes are feasted with ever changing beautiful art and racks of clothing from hard-to-find independent designers. And to top it off, Michael (the other co-owner and hair stylist) is like an artist and doctor put together. My last visit, I told him how my hair was so heavy that it was giving me headaches. However I wanted to keep the length, have volume, and still needed to be able to put it in a pony tail easily so it's away from my face when I work. I thought I was being too difficult, but he did exactly that. And as it's growing out, it looks more fabulous than ever. The cut is not overly styled so that I have to spray and maintain carefully, but it is also not too simple that when my hair is down, it looks boring. Michael is truly amazing. And Marianna is so giving and sincerely a bundle of love. Thank you both as always!!! Subarashi!
Pros: incredibly friendly, super talented, and I love the atmosphere

I have been going to Midoma for about six months now. I had no choice. My hair was a hot mess and I can't bring myself to go to a barber in Brooklyn where I live. I kind of happened upon the place when attending an exhibit opening for an artist friend. She was showing in Midoma's work/gallery space. I met the owners and were pleasantly surprised with their kindness and sensibility. I decided to give the place a shot. When my appt. came I was not at all disappointed. The price was reasonable, the scalp massage and shampoo were intoxicating, and my haircut was top notch. I have continued going back and as long as I feel as good as I do when I leave, I will keep going back.
Pros: Scalp Massage, Rotating Art Exhibits, Loads of Current Magazine, Ambiance Music
Cons: Long way from Brooklyn...

I just had the Milbon treatment at Midoma and it's an amazing new addition to their already great salon! My hair feels like silk....literally!! it's amazing. Michael Shwarzer is a true artist and hair designer. Midoma is one of my favorite places on the planet. Midoma is the perfect mix of new, cutting-edge, fashion forward salon without the irritating qualities of the uptight Madison Avenue salon or downtown too-fabulous-for-any-human-being salons. I just love going there.

How do you like to be treated? If you prefer professionalism, style, attentiveness and exceptional service, then treat yourself to a visit to Midoma. From the minute you walk in, you are welcomed by a friendly staff who can't seem to do enough to make you feel comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxed and the salon is like a retreat away from the hectic noise and commotion of New York City. What really matters the most is that you get a great stylish haircut from some of new York's top stylists. Everyone worries when they change salons or have a new person "touch" their hair. I had the pleasure of having my hair styled by Kao. He was very attentive and wanted to know exactly what i wanted him to do. Not only was the cut fantastic, but the washing and "head massaging" was worth the trip from the Upper West Side all the way to First Avenue and 75th. Kao is a talented professional who is caring, friendly and works his craft like an artist. I will go back to Midoma and will ask for Kao. You should do the same.
Pros: Kao's talent
Cons: Should have gone to Midoma sooner!

I’ve been in NYC for 2 years now; within those 2 years I would have to say I’ve visited a dozen salons before settling with Midoma. I’m very hard to empress when it comes to hair. But, with a cool, calm, collected and professional staff, didn’t feel like I was going to be sprayed with AuqaNet and have a hair- do as high as the Empire State building- FYI the mohawk is out! I was shocked when Kao, my stylist, finished cutting my hair; it was what I had envisioned/requested- the stuff you see in the magazines. Not that I was ever going to be a model, but at least I could feel like one. Hands down, I recommend Midoma to anyone who wants to look like they live in NYC and not the 80’s (Halloween exception)! Every time I go, I take a friend, for encouragement purposes only. . .
Pros: No lies from staff that your new hair cut is "fierce" when it’s really not!
Cons: None

I was referred to MIDOMA hair salon by a friend. my hairstylist was Kao. He was excellent! loved him. He was very patient with my hair, and made sure that the style and length were what I wanted exactly. After the haircut, i was totally in love with my new hair style. He even styled my hair for me with curls at the end, I went out after the haircut and my friends loved it after seeing my new haircut. The Salon itself was an art gallery too, I thought that was pretty cool and different. I highly recommend Kao at MIDOMA salon =)

What an amazing experience, the treatment at Midoma is excellent. The high quality of service and absolute attention to detail transforms the hair experience into an individual spa like event. I had my hair colored by Yuki, who gave me the best blonde highlights I have ever had. I am extremely picky and have tried so many hair colorists and products in the tri-state area. I am so thrilled with the gorgeous hair that I left the salon with, I have been flipping my hair ever since, Thanks to Yuki who transformed my dull, lifeless multicolored hair into a radient shining mane. The color is so perfect it is the exact shade of blonde, since the color I have received so many compliments,. Thanks Yuki, I just hope I don't hurt my neck flipping my gorgeous hair around all the time!

I call Midoma "my escape from reality" not only do you experience an an amazing makeover but spa like atmosphere. Yuki, my hair colorist, always creates the exact color that I'm looking for. I always leave her extremely sadisfied. Michael, my stylist, is spectacular!! can't say enough. I enjoy changing my look throughout the years and I have to say I have never been disappointed. Some of my cuts have been inspired by Sharon Stone, Halley Barry, Meg Ryan, and now Victoria Beckhan, aka Posh Spice. This upper east side Salon is a Gem! A hidden treasure that I reccomend everyone must experience at least once......and trust me... You'll never have to go to Madison ave. salon to look like a princess!
