Horrible is right - both in service and food

I must agree with the last two reviewers - this place is horrible and not worth your money. For the lunch buffet today, I waited 10 minutes to be seated. Then as a single diner was completely ignored by the older gentleman who seemed to be the head waiter. I had to ask THREE times for naan, while the table of men next to me who sat down after I did were give their's promptly. Literrally, 20 minutes after I sat down - I finally got a basket.
The food, oh, where do I begin. All chicken dishes, even in sauce, were as dry as possible. Everything else, except for a meatball dish, was tasteless. Oh, and a Caesar salad? In an Indian restaurant? Didn't have it, but it looked soggy and wilted.
Back to the horrible service - water was never refilled, had to ask for the check while being ignored. I can't believe this place is in business. In a nutshell - avoid Chutney's at all costs.
- Cons: Food, Service - the whole nine yards - terrible
truly ,a fantastic evening.

Excellent food, just right as far as the spices went.Good recomendations by Glen the manager, who went out of his way to prepare a special menu for us despite being very busy, found the time to ensure everything was spot on.My director was very impressed, even offered him a job in our company with better wagesand terms, but he politely declined saying he was very happy where he was.
This is now our new favourite restaurant.
- Pros: SERVICE
- Cons: None really

I've been to Chutney's many times, both to dine-in and for take-out at dinner time. The decor is simple but nice. The food is usually very good, my favorites are Chickpea Veggie Fritters (they are like pakoras but more flavored, mmm!) and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Tandoori Chicken and the roast lamb are usually good too. The Saag Paneer (spinach and paneer cheese) is somewhat bland.
The service was very good at first, but over the years it has become fairly slow. Some of the waiters are attentive and friendly, others seem not to care. It's more slow at lunchtime. This is not a huge drawback if you're ordering take-out, but is pretty annoying when seated.
The best part about Chutney's is that they actually make non-spicy Indian food that still tastes flavorful. A friend of mine is very sensitive to spice and this is the only place that can consistently make mild Indian food (everywhere else is variable).
If you want mild Indian food that still has flavor and seasonings, this is a good option.
- Pros: Good food that can be ordered mild
- Cons: Slow service

Love this spot, the owner is a little strange, but the food is to die for. Delicious butter chicken, fresh naan and samosas that pop! Love it!
- Pros: Best Butter Chicken in town
- Cons: Not cheap, but not expensive, average price
Great place for lunch!

I went for lunch with some colleagues and ordered a few appetizers before deciding on our entrees. They did arrive on time but were more greasy and bland than my 27-yr old Indian palate could accept! I refused to order lunch and just waited until my friends finished. I even spoke to the manager about how nearly-inedible the "mirchi" (our appetizer) was and he said, "Really? I just had a few of those in the kitchen and they were really good!"
What a thumping endorsement of ineptitude!
- Pros: Only Indian restaurant in downtown Bellevue
- Cons: Terrible food
Worst Service. Period.

On October 29, 2008 we went to Chutney's in Bellevue to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were a party of 7 including 2 kids. There was one waiter at the time and it took around 10 minutes to get us a table (the restaurant was half-empty). Next it took us another 20 minutes to get the waiter's attention to put our order. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the waiter(s) are SO busy that you've to wave your hands and do other antics to get their attention ? That's exactly what we had to do. The food arrived rather quickly and was fine (maybe our expectations got lowered after the ordering ordeal that anything normal felt good). We're now ready to leave and the waiter got us a check with 18% gratuity added automatically. I called the waiter and showed him that in the menu it was mentioned that a gratuity of 15% will be added for parties of 8 and more. His response was it's an old menu and that section was now modified to be party of 6 and more (not to mention about the change in percentage). IMHO, THIS WAS JUST OUTRIGHT LOOTING, ON TOP OF WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I told the waiter we may have to report to Better Business
Bureau of this activity and he got back that "we're not doing anything illegal" - not sure if he understands that a business that quotes a certain price and charges a different one is far away from being legal. After this experience (and reading many such bad customer service reviews), I've decided not to go to Chutney's until the management changes its attitude drastically.
- Pros: ambience
- Cons: customer service

I travel alot and been to indian restaurants over the US... Yesterday I was looking for somewhere I can have a good veg. meal therefore figured I would try an indian. Got there a little before closing and the service was rude and the food was not worth it. I was looking for a nice quality place and this was not the one. Would not recommend... try somewhere else.
- Pros: Parking, open till 10pm
- Cons: everything else
