Great customer service and a GREAT style!
by jennnn11
I posted a negative review awhile ago because a stylist that was at Illustrated briefly did a terrible job on my hair (my long-time stylist there had recently moved). The owners saw my review, called me, and offered me a free redo - even though it had been months since my bad experience. That, in and of itself, was amazing - what great customer service!
Then, Jennie did my redo and WOW! She is so talented. She understood exactly what I wanted and my hair looks amazing. I will definitely continue to be a dedicated client at Illustrated!
- Pros: dedication to clients, location, parking
Great Haircut for curly hair!
by JesseHarris32
I recently got my haircut by Christine, at Illustrated Salon on Greenlake, she really took the time to listen to what I wanted to do with my unruley curly hair. She gave a great shampoo and scalp massage and some how managed to tame my wild hair! Thanks a ton!

Amelia is amazing
by breewestseattle
Amelia is a truly talented stylist and colorist. with an artist's touch. She takes her time and is creative in the way she cuts and does color. I have never been happier with my cut and color as I have been in the last year. $145 is the most I've ever spent on a partial foil and cut, but I budget it into my life because Amelia is so good.
The salon carries good product lines. I also like that nobody pushes any products on me that I don't need.
Great cut--bad liars
by girly8
Got a hair cut by Jinny--great cut. But when I went to pay, things went awry. The hair cut suddenly cost a lot more than what they quoted me over the phone. I told her what I was quoted over the phone--and she said, "yes but it cost extra for long hair". I was immediately upset--as in this economy, we're all watching our pennies--and no one told me this over the phone. And since when is shoulder length hair considered "long"? I decided I could get over it--but then, I went to pay with my gift certificate. She said the gift certificate is worth 15% less for processing fees. Now I felt like I was being screwed--I had asked about the gift certificates when I called earlier that day and was told it was only 10% for the processing fees. She looked at me like "sorry, but there's nothing I can do". But when I told her this, suddenly, the gentleman who was standing behind her this entire time overhearing our conversation (the same guy who quoted me both of these things over the phone) turned around and said, "ya, I told her it was only going to be 10%". If I hadn't said anything--she would have charged me the 15% and he wouldn't have argued! I won't go back--I feel like they are dishonest --as everything was different than what they told me over the phone. Beware!
Best cut and color I've EVER had
by jenzers
This is the best salon I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot of salons. Amelia is so talented and really listens when you're explaining what you want - then creates it a million times better than it even looked in your head! I always thought I couldn't wear my hair long because it got limp when it got past my shoulders. Other stylists always suggested hot rollers and/or crunchy gross products, but who has the time or wants crunchy hair? I can barely manage a blowdry in the morning! Amelia created a cut that creates fullness and bounce with just a blowdry. My hair's to the middle of my back now and NOT LIMP (and I'm still on grocery-store shampoo...so it's definitely the cut). I also love that the salon is eco-friendly and no one tries to hard sell products. Parking is easy and the location can't be beat!
- Pros: Amelia, great products, good prices
- Cons: none that I can think of!
HIGH QUALITY SALON IN EVERY ASPECT
by lakica
This salon is amazing! Friendly staff and I absolutely love the cut and color I got from my stylist, Amelia. She listened to what I wanted, didn't try to get creative or experiment, and I ended up with a fab cut and color! I will definitely be back next time. They have a great assortment of products, I love the new line, Prive! Parking is convenient too. Overall, a fantastic experience, haven't been to a salon in Seattle with such great customer service and reasonable prices. Would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a great haircut and/or color.
- Pros: friendly staff, reasonable prices, amazing stylist
Loved my new haircut!
by JanetSch
I called and was able to get an appointment the same day. Jennie gave me a great cut and also taught me how to use the product she recommended for my hair. My family members noticed the difference in the cut and were very complimentary. This is my new place to go.
Great blow-dry.
by caroline60
I paid $48 for a wash and blow-dry. Within 2 hours, my hair was flat and had no remaining style! When I complained, I was given a make-up appointment in two days time. The day of the make-up it was pouring, so I decided to reschedule because I didn't want to take the chance of having my redo ruined by the rain. There were no available appointments for another week and I was put on stand-by. I never received a call back. I would not recommend this salon.
Update: Since writing this review, I have been contacted by the salon and received a redo. Amelia did a fantastic job! My style is still going strong after two days and I have received a number of compliments. I'm glad the salon was able to "find" my phone number and reschedule me. After some bother, it all worked out well.
- Pros: Ambience, Service
Excellent service!

I called in the morning to get in for a pedicure. I had an appt. within an hour of calling. While I was getting my pedicure I decided I needed a haircut. I only had to wait about 20 minutes to get in and cut was great. The gal who did my pedicure was spectacular. She took her time and did a great job. Highly recommended!
- Pros: excellent customer service; great value
Amazing Salon! Perfect Cut and Style! Great environment!
by ascholten
O.K. - I have to admit that typically I tend to do drive by hair cuts as the moment moves me. So typically I land myself in the lower class scale of "salons". While it gets the job done, rarely do I walk out and feel that the world is now looking at a newer and improved me. SO, this time I decided why not try and go to a professional salon where the stylists are able to truly work on all hair types (my hair also is VERY naturally curly), and I will say I definitely did not leave disappointed!!! Not only did I get an amazing cut and style, but when I walked out I had the relaxed, rejuvenated feeling you usually only get after the best massage of your life....and all I went in for was a trim!
So that was just one of many things that I loved about this place. As I said before I have naturally curly hair. While everybody always seems to "envy" me, I always think to myself yes it is nice, but because of it being this way, my hair has pretty much looked the same my entire life. Well, when expressing this to my stylist Jennie, she was able to explain and show me some new ways to style my hair that I would have never been able to come up with, without her expertise...and they were ways that I could do on my own at home.
Saving the best for last, I have to really give my thanks to Jennie. Not only is she an amazing stylist, but she also is the most personable stylist I have ever gone too. Not one part of our conversation was the stale "what do you think about this weather" talk. She truly is passionate about what she does, and it shows through her expertise as well as her personality.
I highly suggest this place to everyone. You will not be dissappointed. On top of all the other great things I have mentioned, the salon itself is very inviting, clean, comfortable, and located right on green lake! Do yourself a favor, and give this salon a try!
- Pros: The entire experience, atmosphere, expertise, location...
- Cons: None!
