I started taking my younger brother to Valentine's for haircuts about ten years ago, when it was just a little hole in the wall in Ballard. The place has only gotten better with age. Now the little shop in Ballard is a luxurious space in Greenwood. The high ceilings, lighting, leather club chairs and drapes are glamorous while the service is top notch, with a friendly greeting and beverage provided as soon as you step in the door. Expanded offerings now include manicures and straight shaves, which I can't personally vouch for but I am sure are fantastic. However, the most important thing is that they cut men's hair better than anywhere else in the city. I may be a woman, but I know hair and I know what every guy I have ever sent there has told me. My ex complained he always had one section of hair that no barber had ever been able to make look right; Valentine's fixed it. My mom once told me to take my brother to the woman down the street instead of driving all the way to Ballard for a haircut; she took one look at that finished product and told me to continue taking him to Valentine's. It is their attention to detail, extensive training on ALL types of hair, and belief that not only women should get excellent haircuts in a place they feel comfortable, that makes them this good. If you are a man wanting a change, or someone looking for a high-end experience, or even if you just need to fix that one thing that has always bothered you about your hair, go to Valentine's. Any woman looking to give her guy a unique gift should consider a gift certificate here. (And the few times I've convinced Valentine to cut my own hair, he has done an amazing job!)

I got my hair cut at Valentine's two weeks ago. From the moment I walked in, the staff greeted me, offered me a drink and then not only asked my name, but used it consistently and correctly throughout to make the entire process fantastic. If you are used to a "chain" haircut, where the staff's biggest concern seems to be how fast they can get you done and back out the door, prepare to be shocked. I have never had anyone pay so much attention to get my hair perfect. Not only did it look great the moment I walked out the door, but even today it is growing out to be one of the longest lasting cuts ever. I don't spend much time or energy treating myself, and I had to force myself to relax into the experience. The attention and time that Valentine's provides is a blissful escape that I have never felt was easily available to me a young professional man. I highly, highly encourage you to make Valentine's your barber shop. I can't say enough good things about it, and so I will do the next best thing and be their customer for life.

I was recommended to Valentine's by a friend of mine. I need to cut a good amount of hair off because I wanted a completely new look. I was a little nervous about it because everytime I do this when the weather gets nice the stylist say they can take it short, but they never can take out the lines on the sides of my head from the clippers they use. Not only did Valentine "the owner" make me feel completely comfortable about making a change, he gave me the best haircut I have ever had in my entire life! I really felt like he paid attention to everything I wanted and gave it to me with no lines that takes weeks to grow out. Now I am recommending him to all of my friends. Valentine is a little pricier than the rest of the staff, but worth every cent!
Pros: Amazing staff.
Cons: I wish I knew of them years ago.

After speaking to a few friends about what to get my boyfriend for Christmas, they recommended that I treat him to a nice spa package. Knowing that he's not quite the full massage and spa type of guy, I decided to do something in between. I purchased a gift certificate from Valentine's which included a haircut, a scalp / facial massage, and a straight razor shave. He was quite thrilled at receiving the gift certificate, but it was I who was thrilled when I saw him after the appointment....he looked absolutely FABULOUS!!! He's had many haircuts before; but in my opinion, this was one of the best, not to mention his face was as soft as a baby's (thanks to the razor shave). A gift certificate to Valentine's is the perfect gift for any man. Thanks guys!

I have never been to place where they make you feel like a star. As soon as you step in you are greeted by the receptionist where she automatically offers you refreshements. The atmosphere is so professional yet so relaxed that you leave here ready to conquer the world! If you are looking for a place where you want to feel like a KING, Valentine's is the place to be. Bach is the man to see, he definately knows his stuff. He makes sure to give you what you want. You tell him what you want and he delivers. I trust his sense of style that I love taking suggestions on what looks good.

Bach Nguyen is a exceedingly young talented barber. This man listens to what you want unlike other barbers who tend to do what they feel is in-style. Another great thing about how he attends to you, he will not get any hair on your shirt!!! He is very classy guy and makes you feel good about paying him cut your hair. His line ups are clean and his haircuts are spectacular, so if your looking for a million dollar haircut for a good price call vealentine's in Greenwood and make an appointment with Bach.

Go to Valentine's on Greenwood in Seattle! There is no barber shop in the town with a more relaxed atmosphere and classy vibe to it. My barber is Bach Nguyen and he can do the best fades I have ever seen, no lie. Very professional and you can tell he loves the line of work he's in. Bach can cut your hair anyway you want and it will turn out clean, fresh line-up, and won't even get one hair on your shirt. Call him up and make an appointment for your next cut.
Pros: Clean, Classy, and Professional

It is rare to be able to go anywhere and just relax. At Valentines you get to your appointment and are able to enjoy the 1920's style classy environemnt, settle in for your haircut with a nice drink and just relax. The stylist listens and tries to figure out what you want done with your hair. No matter what or what you do not decide upon it will look great. The shampoo and scalp massage was wishing for more. I remember when I first saw Valentines at their Greenwood location, cool idea but it felt too loud for me. Pool, t.v.'s, hip-hop (all which I like but not a relaxing environmnet). THINGS HAVE CHANGED, they have gone through a first class face lift. Mellow, cool, classy and professional would describe my experience.
Pros: Great haircut with a relaxed but not stale ambience.
Cons: It would be nice if they offered a chair massage or had a massage room

After having suffered needlessly for years at other places, I can confidently say that I may never go anywhere else for a haircut again. Unlike many other places, where I usually feel like a number, when I first walked in to Valentine's, I was greeted and offered a beverage. Then, Mitch took a few minutes to get to know me, to listen to my concerns and came up with something stylish, but still conservative enough to be professional. Lastly, Rose gave one of the best head massages I've ever had while she washed my hair. I left feeling great about my new haircut and feeling that I got much more for my money than I had ever expected. Thanks for raising the bar, guys!
Pros: personable staff, great service and great value
Cons: That I didn't go there before

Thank you Mr. Valentine, The bar is raised and standards have been exceeded. The King of Kings treatment had. Yours is not the average men's salon. I'm welcomed in, jacket taken, made at home. The couches, comfy, the music is goin' and the vibe is smooth. I loosen up and sit back, I take a deep breath and plunge into the excess of the rituals. I walked average, I leave the King of Kings. Almost too good to be true. Thank you.
Pros: the style of my new look
Cons: the styling of my new look
