Great catering for employee lunch

by gogo22

I had Kaosamai cater a lunch for 130 employees at the office and it was excellent! I gave them my budget and they created a wonderful menu that please everyone! (including the vegans/vegetarians/gluten free people) . The food was very fresh and they were helpful in setting up, keeping up the food supply and in cleaning up.

Service and food superb! I highly recommend!

Excellent Food, Fantastic Service

by DanTheRunner

Working in Fremont I’ve got easy access to a lot of good Thai restaurants, but Kaosamai is top on the list. In fact, my wife and I love their food and people so much that we hired them to cater our wedding. In their restaurant you’ll experience great flavors, friendly staff, and very reasonable prices. They’ve got a great deck to soak up the rare Seattle sun.

A bit more about the catering – their casual approach to catering was a stress reliever, they are flexible on dishes and made good recommendations based on flavor, audience, and visual appeal, and their staff kicked butt! We hired their staff for additional help with busing, bartending, and setup and they all worked hard and as the groom I never had a question that they were doing what was needed. I got countless compliments on the food (it looked and tasted great) from guests – many of whom don’t eat Thai food! I can’t recommend their restaurant or catering enough!

Kaosamai is a great spot for lunch in Fremont, excellent peanut sauce, fun outdoor seating, and cheap. Great spot to grab a beer on a sunny day.

Awesome Catering!

by ZachSeattle

Kaosamai catered our wedding for 42 people recently.

The actual planning process was relatively simple. I set up an appointment with Doug at Kaosamai (located in the Fremont area), and saw what they had to offer on the menu. After deciding what we wanted to try, we decided on the items listed in the next paragraph. They do charge you for the tasting, but you get to take home what you try, so it's almost like takeout. My only issue with that is I don't want to take home what I don't like, so my suggestion to Kaosamai. would be to have smaller tasting portions for no fee.

We had the spring rolls, chicken satays, phad thai with tofu, a chicken curry, and something seafood that my wife wanted. Comments from the guests were very complimentary, particularly around the chicken satays and spring rolls. I couldn't eat much just because I was stressed from planning the wedding, but from what I did have I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken curry over rice, and the chicken satays were amazing.

The service was excellent. I believe Sumalee was helping us, and made sure that all the food was prepared per our order from the tasting. She also had little touches of garnishments (shaved carrot, lime slices, etc.) and presentation that really make a good meal stand out.

I'd definitely recommend you check Kaosamai out if you want Thai food for your events. And if you just want good food on your own, try the location in Fremont.

  • Pros: On time, Fresh food, Tasty
  • Cons: Charging for the tasting

Best Thai food in Seattle

by gregtead

Taste is subjective, and for me it's not really Yellow Curry if there aren't potatoes in it. That said, they back up their ingredients with savory, yummy perfection.

  • Pros: It's the best Thai in Seattle
  • Cons: Not close enough to my house

Terrific Thai Catering Truck

These guys are fantastic. They come right to your door and just need to plug in to cater your party. They are friendly, fast and their food is truly delicious. We have used them for a school auction for several years running and people love the food.

Excellent wedding catering

by Shahaf

My wife and I hired Kaosamai to do the catering for our wedding on Aug 3, 2008.

We both love Thai food so we decided that, though unorthodox, it would be very "us" to have Thai catering at our wedding. First we tried calling some of the standard wedding catering companies in the Seattle area, but we found that they: 1. were expensive, and 2. didn't really know Thai food.

Then we discovered Kaosamai and its wedding catering service. We visited the restaurant in Fremont for dinner one night and sampled a bunch of their dishes (half-size plates so we could try more dishes). The food was great so we were sold. We ended up taking three main dishes (Phad Thai, Phad Kee Mao, Curry Fried Rice) and two appetizers (Satay and Spring Rolls). We also spoke with Doug and Sumalee (owners) -- both very friendly and relaxed. They were great about accommodating special requests (e.g. some of our wedding guests were allergic to nuts).

The catering worked out very well. Doug was actually first at the wedding hall and called me to make sure he arrived at the right place :-) They brought a couple extra hands to help us set up the tables (for a fee). Since Kaosamai has a mobile kitchen, all the food was cooked fresh on the spot, which is probably the best part part about their catering.

We had several people complement us on our non-traditional choice of food, and several others tell us that it all tasted great. Of course, we also had a couple of people say that one of the dishes was a little too spicy, but it's Thai so that's not too surprising.

Overall it worked out great and is highly recommended.

Thai Heaven

by kekoajaber

I love everything about this place. Local, friendly, incredible food, and delicious Thai Iced Tea. Employees are kind. The bill is usually higher than I like, but I always like the food so I quickly dimiss the cost since I'd rather spend more to support a local establishment, enjoy the cuisine and never be disappointed.

Cheers.

  • Pros: exotic sweet dishes with heat behind them, kinda like a good trashy novel
  • Cons: a wee bit pricey

Fabulous wedding catering

by superpaur

Doug & Sumalee and their crew catered our 150 person wedding in Snohomish (45 minutes north of Seattle). We are ABSOLUTELY pleased with their work. Doug & Sumalee worked thoughtfully with us to choose our menu and were very accommodating with our desire to have vegetarian versions of some dishes as well as a delightful tea service. They were awesome at the reception; setting up, having things ready on time, providing guidance to guests regarding what was in each dish, condiments, etc, and packing up leftovers neatly for us, all without us really noticing. They required no assistance from us (which is nice, since we were pretty busy with guests) and created a very beautiful and delicious meal. Doug is so friendly and and easy going, it was great to see him around the reception. Many guests enjoyed visiting with him.

The appetizers- spring rolls and chicken satay- were delicious. We saw a few kids scooping the peanut sauce straight into their mouths. One friend said he had 40 spring rolls. We're not sure that this is accurate, but I believe the point is clear. Our entrees were panang curry (that I dream about- Sumalee, you are awesome), pad thai, and pad prik king (both delicious) had people actually amazed. So many guests stopped us to tell us (with wide eyes of awe) how incredible the food was. They just couldn't believe it. We were especially pleased to find that guests we thought might not like thai food were going back for seconds. It was simply delicious.

Catering prices were very reasonable. We were on a budget and still can't believe that we pulled off such incredibly good food for such a great deal. Plus the great service and friendliness of all the staff. We're just tickled. Perhaps one of the best parts of all is that we can go to their restaurant any time and have our wedding food. We'll be glad to see Doug and Sumalee again.

We were so pleased to be so proud of our choice, and they should be extremely proud of this event.

  • Pros: friendly, delicious, extremely competent, great variety, delicious:), fresh (catering truck rocks)
  • Cons: not in los angeles (where we live):)
