Beware the trolls

by basiji at Citysearch

I've been going to this restaurant for several years and the food has been consistently good to great. Service can vary, but the overall experience has been good enough that I don't hesitate to bring guests, which is usually my acid-test. Prices have gone up over time but the portions are very ample. If you've never had it before, screw up your courage and try the morcilla (blutwurst) or better yet the molleja (grilled sweetbreads-thymus, actually) for a real appetizer treat.

Beware, there was a bitter ownership split a few years back and it appears that each side is writing either over-the-top positive reviews or bitter negative ones on citysearch. Check out the profiles of the reviewers and you'll find that most have "reviewed" nothing else...A sure sign they're bogus.

great food could be better service

by tinkerbelll at Citysearch

I was at this resteraunt on Saturday for dinner with my family before my grand daughters play wich was across the street. I must say that I've definetly had better service, but the food was great. We were in a little bit of a time crunch, and we were a fairly large group, but before we sat down our server said that wouldnt be a problem since we were the so early in the evening. but it took forever to even recieve our drinks. when we finally ordered our food we didnt have a whole lot of time left before the show started. I asked the waitress if we would have enough time and how long it was going to take and she very rudely informed me that "I was not the only person in the restreraunt that she was waiting on" I found her comments to be extremely rude and snide. I really hope this place finds emplyees a little wiser next time. The food was good and all the other wait staff seamed very nice.

Under new ownership- fantastic service

by stevemar at Citysearch

I had read previous reviews just blasting the service and attitude. Boy have things changed. Now under new ownership, the service was top notch. Bread baskets and water was refilled immediately, entrees were served very promptly. Although I did not get to see the tango dancing, my dining experience was great and the food and atmosphere was wonderful.

Great Food, Atmosphere, Poor Service

by marthajanerose at Citysearch

I loved the feel of the restaurant- great music, great atmosphere. The food was delicious- the steak was as good as any steakhouse I have been to. However, the service was very poor. It took a long time to get a waiter to our table, then he was very rushed and not helpful with any questions. There was no clearing of dishes between courses, and our check took at least 20 minutes after we asked for it. We might go back, but only with a high level of patience!

  • Pros: food, music, decor
  • Cons: service!!!

It could be much better

by djefvert at Citysearch

I've been in Argentina many times and my wife is an Argentine, so I know authetic Argentine food. The meat is very good here, however the empanadas are disappointing. The parillada is a good value and highly recommended. The rest of the menu leaves a bit to be desired. The chicken was undercooked and took a while to get a new piece, after most of us had already finished. Entertainment is good but my wife thinks they could do much much better in terms of quality and price.

  • Pros: Entertainment, Parillada
  • Cons: Price, Menu variety

This Argentinean steakhouse takes its beef--and its tabletop dancing--very seriously.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
The smell of grilled beef infuses the dining room, tantalizing folks having a quick mojito at the bar. Menus are made of leather and the walls are draped with tattered cattle ranch signage. Staff members quicken the restaurant's pulse with spicy tango dances every weekend.

The Food
The garlicky chimichurri sauce--the Argentinean equivalent to salsa--is perfect for bread dipping. The hefty portion of crisp calamari is a great way to start. For dinner, the best bet is the Parrillada Mixtra (mixed grill), a selection of meats that includes tender short ribs, a thin skirt steak and sweetbreads served tableside. This giant platter comes complete with the menu's two best side dishes: tender grilled vegetables and perfectly salted french fries.

Smoke clouds the great food

by jay9190 at Citysearch

Tried it based on the reviews here. Had reservations for 8- had to wait for an hour for the table- maybe becos it was a Saturday- and they can be excused- but the fumes from the kitchen were bad- Keep a handkerchief in case your eyes water from smoke!

That said- great atmosphere with the dances and the hustle bustle of the place reduced the pain of waiting. The food was awesome- Best Filet Mignon in a long long time. Overall worth the wait-this one has potential to be great...

  • Pros: Food, Drinks, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Smoke/Ventilation, Wait (one experience)

excellent food, poor service

by jordan555 at Citysearch

The meat is the best in Seattle, superb food. Right on target as far as the price is concerned. What was sad was the service. When we were getting seated, the hostess stopped and had two conversations, leaving us to our own devices in the path to our table twice. Not very professional.

Not a big deal. We then waited 20 minutes to order drinks since our waiter was MIA. After our food was delivered he barely appeared. We had to ask to other people for our check, after a 45 minute wait for the check. I did however see other people receiving decent service from their waitstaff so I hope this is not the norm. But if you feel you are getting bad service speak up or the trend may continue for the rest of the night.

  • Pros: food, atmosphere, presentation of food
  • Cons: service

We enjoyed it!

by digitpx at Citysearch

After hearing a co-worker rave about the place, I was glad to have finally made it there. The steak is pretty tasty, yummy creamed swiss chard, and the fried calamari fantastic! The canneloni was ok, and too rich with everything else we ordered. The atmosphere with the tango dancers really liven the place up. Next time I will try the mojitos and the desserts. The owners were super nice, too!

Although you get a nice view of the whole place, I did not enjoy sitting at the counter located near the grill/kitchen.

  • Pros: good steak and wine, fun place, nice owners
  • Cons: no room for dessert, counter with stools
