Oh, Cyber Dogs. Wedged underneath the Convention Center parking lot, this little hole-in-the-wall is probably what I miss most about downtown Seattle. It's the only restaurant I know of that offers coffee, beer, an all-vegan/vegetarian menu, great music, late hours, and free Internet. It's quaint and cosy, and the punkish staff are great to talk to. And easy on the eyes. Not that it matters, of course. About the hot dogs: I've heard more than a couple people complain that they aren't very good. While I personally don't agree, it may be a surprise to the passerby that (with the exception of a few cheese-related items) the menu is vegan. It's not extraordinarily well-advertised, you see, so if you're not paying attention you may get an unexpectedly meatless sausage on an eggless bun. The last time I was there was on Chrismas eve. The owner (a wonderful, Russian, ex-Microsoft lady) had opened up shop even though the rest of the building was without electricity. Unfortunately, the generator that was supplying power to Cyber Dogs was located directly above the ceiling, so the whole room was vibrating. Yet, the store was still open, and the owner still took the time to make us feel at home. If you're looking for something a little different, Cyber Dogs is highly recommended.
Pros: Metered parking across the street, close to Downtown and Capitol Hill, terrific people, great atmosphere
Cons: Vegan food might not be appreciated by non-vegans, rather small interior
