Bad Shrimp!

by ttowninseattle

I went to Duke's for happy hour one night to have their amazing bloody mary's. Their bloddy marys come with 2 huge shrimp on a skewer. Delicious right? Wrong. the first one i had was fine but the second drink came and the shrimp were totally bad. Sick. When i finally got the bartenders attention (he was busy watching tv) he came over and made fun of me for saying the shrimp were slimmy and smelly. And he still made be pay over $8 for it. I will never go back. And with food and service like that they should be shut down.

location does all the work

by choconip

decent but nothing to dance about. food takes so long to come out, even when fully staffed and little customers. just don't think it's worth what they charge. they are still riding on that "popular" wave from years and years ago. killer location though - Alki !!

  • Pros: on Alki beach
  • Cons: over priced, mediocre service, not family-friend at all

Rude Waitstaff

by tinaxduzgen

The food was ok, but not worth the 15 dollars we paid for a cheeseburger. We asked for a side of BBQ sauce, the waitress wrote it down but never brought it. When it was time to pay, the waitress claimed our money was FAKE! She says she used to work in a bank, and that it didn't feel right.

I will never go back here again.

food and location are a good combination...

by seattles_best_

...but yeah, the servers do make you feel like your a bother, even though you're not even really asking for anything but what you ordered. I'd recommend showing up early for dinner, because it can be a pain to wait, especially during summer.

Great food, below average service!

by amrakx

We lunch there every other Friday, there's four of us in our group. We arrive shortly after opening to sit near the window or a cozy booth. I start with the great steamer clams and use the warm sourdough bread for dipping. I also enjoy the clam chowder, although a little thick, it's hearty and sticks to your ribs! Everything here is good, except the service. You will be hard pressed to get a coffee/ ice tea/ or water refill. They are very busy during the lunch hour and obviously understaffed. Smiles from the servers are rare and non existant in our case. This was the only disappointment and unfortunately after 3 lunches there, it seems to be the rule rather than the exception. I would rate the food between a 9 and 10, the serving staff in the low 1-3 range, unfortunately. It's a shame since a good server can really make the dining experience all that and more!

  • Pros: Good seafood, good views, warm ambience
  • Cons: Servers that treat you like an imposition rather t

Seattle's classic fish-n-chip and chowderhouse remains a local favorite.

by Contributor

In Short
Duke Moscrip's first place was opened on Lower Queen Anne in 1976 and has since expanded to three waterfront locations (Green Lake, Alki Beach and Lake Union). The seafood-centric menu includes half a dozen interpretations of clam chowder, fish-and-chips, a salmon sandwich, salads, steaks and a rotating selection of pastas.

Overhyped Chowder, But A Nice Spot At Alki

by spankmehard

The outdoor dining and deck are built to enjoy the beach view and summer breeze of Puget Sound, which is the only reason I recommend this place. Check out the lunch! The prices go up (up to an additional $6) for most of the entrees at dinner time. If you check out the chowder, I recommend trying a small cup first. On both 1st & 2nd visits, the Crayfish Chowder & Original Clam Chowder was just OK and over salted. The quesadillas are also too plain. The Calamari Strips, however, were very tasty and juicy. The Dungeness Crab Stuffed Prawns are delicious; unfortunately there are only 3 prawns (for an outrageous $17 lunch, $23 dinner). The dinner prices are simply not reasonable. The service is very casual. Overall the seafood was just OK at best, but the location is Alki, and this restaurant is a fair way to enjoy it.

My second Duke's restuarant experience and another excellent one at that. It's an awesome place for sunset watching, sipping posh drinks, and enjoying wonderful seafood. Good date spot; call ahead though for reservations.

Scam scham...

by excoug

I signed up for the Dukes email club in June and got my free dinner certificates in 2 weeks. I signed up a friend and got one for a free cup of chowder. I always get spam and cannot attribute it to Dukes. I like the offers and think it is cool to get the updates on the latest happenings. The sunsets are awesome and the second floor deck is the best in Seattle!

  • Pros: view, service
  • Cons: crowded, parking

Spectacular View

by nwffan91

Alki is the greatest place in the city for a Duke's reataurant. The food is great, the service is some of the best in town, and the view cannot be beat. They have a cucumber mojito now that sounds bizarre but is fantastic! I cannot wait until summer time when they expand to the second floor deck area and I can fully appreciate our only beach community taking in rays and drinking cocktails while I people watch.

  • Pros: service, food, ambiance
  • Cons: somewhat small
