WOW, what an experience

While on atrip with my college club, my group and I, having had to get back to Pike Place from China Town, stumbled upon The Islander, and decided to try it.. Inside we were met promptly by the lone waiter who sat us at a large table. Upon looking at the menu we were all in awe! Not a bad item to be seen. We all ordered, not caring much about the price, because it was late and a rather cold seattle night. Once we got our food we all kind of stopped in awe. What incredible food we all had! The steak that I had was the best that I have ever had at any restaurant, this including some very nice steak houses! A girl in our group ordered a rice pudding, but because the chef had thrown away the topper we got a desert on the house. Because our waiter was so good with us, we all tipped him quite handsomely, and he walked away with over $100 in tip. I highly reccomend this restaurant to anyone, and everyone, and am planning on going back again!
- Pros: Excellent food
- Cons: Kind of hard to find if you don't know where it is.
Worst Customer Service and Business Tactics I've ever Seen

I work right by The Islander and brought my parents there after work for a nice dinner. The food was alright, but to be honest quite over priced. The bill came and every item on the bill was more expensive than what the menu said. We mentioned it to the waitress and she told us that we were wrong. We hadto go back through the menu and show her the price. After realizing she was wrong, she replied that nobody has ever noticed that they were being charged more. She still charged us more money for ordering shrimp lo mein even though there was no mention in the menu that this would cost more. I scribbled out my signature on the original receipt and she ensured me that this transaction would be canceled. After taking so long to get my final bill back, we left. To my suprise, I look at my statement and they charged me twice and I ended up spending $100 for a $40 dollar bill. This was even after I crossed out the entire receipt. I don't even know how they processed it without a signature. I wanted to take my parents out to a nice dinner and it ended up being a horrible evening.
the worst service ever!

i went there the other night and had the WORST service i have ever had in a restaurant! First, one of the waitresses, Evelyn, sneered and glared at us when we came. Then she was saying mean things about myself and my friends at the bar when we were seated just across the way and could hear everything she was saying. Our server seemed like it was a burden to wait on our table. Then they charged us a 20% gratuity when we asked for separate checks. I know that having a set tip for a group is customary but it should be 18% at the most. But I would haven't tipped anything if it were just me (and I usually tip 20%) because i was treated so incredibly poorly!
- Pros: close to pike place
- Cons: service, food, everything
Overpriced - Understaffed

I was hoping to have a fun dinning experience. I'm sorry to say that it was not to be. The whole restaurant was being run by two wait staff. I think that the bartender was our waiter. The food was cooked well, but still yucky. Everything was over priced. The Starters? Five count them "5" potstickers-10$?
I might have been more impressed if there was a dinning experience but we were short changed on staff, concern, food and then an exorbitant bill.
I stiffed the waiter with a super small tip-but then I don't ever expect to go back.
Never Disappoints and Friendly Service

My wife and I have dined here on number of occasions before going to the concerts. We have always been promptly seated, wait staff have been very friendly and the food have been very good. We have tried the Islander's Spice-rubbed Ribeye, Hawaiian Fried Chicken, Spam Fried Rice, Garlic Scallops & Prawns, Lemon Grass Seafood, Kung Pao Shrimp, et al. The dishes have never disappointed us. If there is anything that's negative, the location has been near a construction site for what seems like years. Also, a bit odd music choice on occasion -- what sounded like Near Eastern and Mexican -- among the selections. But, hey, the pluses far outweigh the any negatives.
- Pros: Food, friendly staff
- Cons: Parking, nearby construction

I have never been to the Islander till yesterday. Did not realized what a warm, cozy place it was! The service was friendly, effecient with casual dining atmosphere. I loved the Lounge and the food was fabulous! I feel like I am in a warm tropical place far far away from Seattle. It was great place to meet my friends, we had a great time. Check out the CHOW FUN fat thick noodles with fresh tofu, bok choy, with gravy sauce, yum yum! Total comfort food in a cold wet season.
Thumb up! MY
- Pros: Good size menu
- Cons: Construction going on around the area, hard to see

We had a dinner party at the Islander restaurant last week and it was so good!! The service was friendly and we had such a good time at the Tiki Lounge. My favorite dish was the kahuna Pork chops with carmelized crushed pineapple and my friend had the wok-charred Ahi and we both loved it! The bar was quite full during happy hour time but get the table in the back dining and it isnt so crowded.

Recently visit the Islander restaurant, got seated at the patio and the view was amazing!!! Cocktails was so good, atmosphere was just right! I thought I was in Maui! We've been to this restaurant many time, the staff remembers us every time. Allen or Mark always served us and they are great! The restaurant is a cassual Polynesian restaurant, it is deceiving but not all downtown restaurants are snobby five star! I like it this way, hope the Islander don't plan to change when the new Four Season Hotel is opening up. To Markus 13, lighten up!!!!! Perhaps you need to go to Maui for vacation.

Terrible Service, Limited Dessert Menu, Mediocre Food.

I attended a Wedding rehearsal dinner at the Islander. The wait staff was stuck up and down right rude. The food was nothing to write home about and the only choice for dessert was melted coconut ice cream or Mango ice cream. We sat on the not so spectacular balcony for part of the time. Since they didn't give us a saucer under the ice cream bowl. A bit of the already melted ice cream dripped down the edge of the bown and through the open grid table; this got all over my pants. I've never seen such poorly trained waiters (I used to train wait staff). Terrible place, save your money and avoid this restaurant.
- Pros: location
- Cons: everything else
Best place to sit outside when the weather is nice!

The location is great for going to for Happy Hour or just to get some drinks if you want to sit out in the sun. I went there last Friday when it was like 70 degrees and apparently they were not prepared for the rush that they got. The staff was rude at times and very unorganized. They were complaining about people sitting out on the deck. Also it taked forever for them to make and give you your drinks.
- Pros: Outside Deck, Food
- Cons: Service
