Hidden Hideout
by pcraigdaniels
The Magnolia Pub has changed a lot from the old days, when it was located
across the street, but it is still a great place to hang out.
Nice and mellow vibe, no pretense, and good food and beer.
the best sports bar around
by dbarten
i've been going tp the village pub since i've moved here a couple years ago. it has vastly improved since kevin and su-jin have taken over in may, and they are very accomodating to their customers. they have just put out an amazing new menu with a wide range of items that will fill any appetite. its the only sports bar i know of where you can order dumplings and thai flavored prawns with still maintaining that neighborhood feel. new booths, tables and chairs have been added giving the place a clean stylish atmosphere that most sports bars don't have. they have 35 cent wings on monday nights to go along with a great beer selection of 16 on tap, and their happy hour menu is equally as delectable. i had the caribean-jerk berger, and it was amazing, and their onion rings are highly recommended. there is also a tasty breakfast menu that is available on the weekend before your game kicks off. i am a huge football fan and am there every sunday, and they accommodate any game any of their customers want to see on one of their 28 tvs. which makes it easy to follow your team along with any others, for you fantasy footballers out there. there is also free wi-fi availble. the service is amazing, being very prompt and friendly. they remember your name and treat you well. the pub has also just added a new pool table with new sticks as well. and its nice that it is only 50 cents a game. this place has a great atmosphere on gameday, and the great staff only enhances the experience.
All the potential in the world doesn't make it good

Read through the reviews on this first page. Check out the ones that are five star ratings and rave about how it's just the best place and the new ownership and management is just incredible. Click on the reviewer's username and see how many reviews they've written. Yep, that's right. One. Know what that means? It's a plant. Friends of ownership ask others (or just create more than one account) to go post five star ratings to falsely pump up their score. What a farce!
It's bad enough this place stinks without them trying to fool you into thinking it's decent. The food is marginal but not bad for a sports bar. They pretend to care about having all the games on in HD. They clearly have no idea how to plan for a crowd (running out of certain famous menu items multiple days in a row, running out of Miller Lite, etc). They also nickel and dime customers to death. Things are expensive to begin with and now they charge extra for everything. I've tried Magnolia Pub several times since the new management/ownership and I'm done. I've even taken in groups of 15 or more to drink and eat for hours and still don't get a single shred of appreciation from the management. The staff is friendly but they're just trying to make tips. The management simply wants your money. You are an annoying obstacle to them getting your money. Suffice to say I'm done with VP. I'll congregate my group of friends at a place that cares about its customers.
- Pros: Tons of HD ready TVs, decent fare, good location
- Cons: Inept management, lack of focus on sports bar element
Great new management

This family-friendly sports bar in Magnolia offers 16 beers on tap, a pool table and a TV at every table.
TV's, TV's and more TV's..great food and service
by footballjunkie
THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. IT HAS TV'S AT EVERY TABLE AND 18 42" TV'S ALL AROUND. YOU CAN SEE THE GAMES FROM ANYWHERE YOU SIT. THE SERVICE IS GREAT AND THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC. THEY HAVE A TON OF BEER HANDLES AND YOU CAN ORDER IT IN A BIG "BEER-TENDER" FOR LARGE GROUPS. THE HAPPY HOUR SOUNDS GREAT TOO.
I UNDERSTAND THAT IT USED TO BE A BIG COUGS BAR BUT THE NEW OWNER SAYS HE WILL BE CATERING TO ALL FANS. MY FRIENDS AND I ARE HUSKIES AND FELT VERY WELCOME. HE ALSO SAID THEY WILL BE SHOWING ALL THE UFC FIGHTS WITH NO COVER CHARGE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR ALL SPORTS NEEDS
Why?

With so few places in Magnolia to go for food and drinks I've been into the pub a few times and it seems the food and service gets worse each time. You can go down the street and get better service and food. The food is average at best and the prices are definitely not justified. Do yourselves a favor and skip the pub.
- Pros: The doors open so I can get back outside
- Cons: Too many to list but lets start with poor service, average food and overpriced.
OVERRATED!
by ironshamrock
I have gone to the Magnolia Pub 3 different times to make sure I just didn't show up up during a bad time. Each time was the same. The wait staff is slow. They are unenthusiastic about thier jobs. They always seem to be busy with something else other than providing good wait service. There are a lot of TVs but good luck getting anybody to change the channel on a TV no one is watching to a game you and your friends want to watch. Plus I thought this was a sports bar, why in the world are there cartoons on the TV on Saturday afternoon? That's when all the good college games are on. I don't care if kids are in the "Pub". Take the crumb snatchers to Chuckie Cheese! This pub is off the beaten track, there is nothing to do in the immeadate area after you get tired of the place. Cabs show up about 25 to 30 minutes after you call them. Cause Magnolia isn't exactly a high traffic area for cabs. There is absolutely no parking around the pub. All the locals from Mag Town hang out there. So if your looking to pick up a MILF then maybe this is your scene. The only GOOD thing about this "Pub", is the food. The cooks are on it! Ofcourse this is Magnolia so everything is over prced. Your better off going downtown or to Ballard.
- Pros: Clean, good lighting and safe neighborhood.
- Cons: Expensive, no parking, no surrounding night life.
lots of tvs

Good food and lots of tv's! The service was horrible. Waitress wasn't friendly at all and we felt totally put out to ask her for anything. Fix the service problem and it could be a way better place. I will give it another chance in the future for hope of better service!

WE DROVE FROM CD'A, IDAHO TO THIS GREAT PUB LAST YEAR FOR THE APPLE CUP- BOY WERE WE IN FOR A TREAT. WE HAD AN ABSOLUTE BALL. SURE IT WAS CROWDED, AND THE SERVICE WAS SLOW, AND IT WAS A LITTLE SMOKEY. IT WAS AFTER ALL THE "APPLE CUP" IT DIDN'T MATTER TO US, WE WERE THERE FOR FOOTBALL AND BEER, NEED I MENTION THE COOL WAY AND COLD WAY OUR BEER WAS SERVED THE ATMOSPHERE WAS INCREDIBLE, AND THE T-SHIRTS WE BOUGHT THERE WERE " FAR OUT ", THEY GOT HUGE REVIEWS IN PULLMAN. THE " HUCK THE FUSKIES " EMBLEM WENT ON THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL NEWSPAPER. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. WE JUST WANT TO SAY TO THE OWNER OF THE BAR, NICELY DONE AND TO THE WAIT STAFF, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
