Horrible experience with Japanese Thermal Straightening

by lincheng33 at Citysearch

I went to Salon Juno for Thermal Straightening with Dean and this is my first time with him as I used to see someone else who had left Salon Juno. After waiting for 3 days before shampooing my hair, my hair was fried and had a lot of breakage after the first wash. I called Dean and he said he can fix it by applying some Keratin treatment in the problem areas. So I went in the same week and waited another 2 days before washing my hair. Well, it made no difference and my hair is now in even worse shape. I went to another salon for a hair cut as I don't know what else to do with the damaged hair other than trying to trim off as much as possible and they told me the straightening treatment was done every unevenly and there is nothing I can do other than waiting for it to grow out. Now I am out $480 and have to deal with damaged hair. Very disappointed and I will never go back there.

Dean is super

by gloria c at Citysearch

I got the thermal straightening done on Halloween day. Dean spent a lot of time explaining the process and putting me at ease. He was very attentive and concerned about the condition of my hair, and went out of his way to make sure I got what I wanted (straight, wash and wear hair) while also making sure I didn't not sustain damage. I've had my straight hair now for 5 weeks, and I can't say how happy I am to have no-fuss hair, healthy-looking hair. It has saved me so much time in the mornings, as I do nothing, but my hair still looks polished. I definately recommend Salon Juno/Dean (actually I've told all my friends). Dean even charged me what I thought was a very good price. He has so much experience doing this process, but didn't take my arm and leg in the process. Great service, nice professional, upfront pricing, no pushy sales AND easy parking to boot. What more can you ask?

  • Pros: Professional, knowledgable, hair condition as top concern
  • Cons: Can't think of anything

Juno is the best!!

by snyckers85 at Citysearch

Juno has been doing my Thermal Reconditioning treatment for a few years now, and it just keeps getting better! He is so nice and explains everything so well and always gives me a great deal! It is so great to shower and go straight into work and never have to worry or fuss over my hair! Before when it was curly, it could definately be pretty at times, but it was a ton of work, and I always had to plan my day around my hair. Not anymore! :-)

  • Pros: Best thermal reconditioning
  • Cons: None!

Best hair stylist ever!

by mhfnet at Citysearch

I always love my haircuts from Joy and everyone that I have referred says they same about all of her hair services. You know you are being treated special when you get a relaxing scalp massage with your haircut. I still laugh about the time a single male friend of mine had two admiring women come up to give him there phone numbers the same day after he got a haircut by her. I have also seen before and after pictures of some of the work she done on several female clients and all I can say is WOW! From one of your happy clients, Michael

  • Pros: Any service Joy does and compliments you will get.

Thermal Reconditioning

by lucita777 at Citysearch

I was struggling with my frizzy hair for a long time. I tried Keratin Complex but it started to revert after 2 months, and after that I still had to use flat iron to get rid of frizz.

After Dean did my permanent hair straightening at Juno Salon, my hair are straight, shiny, and I don't have frizz anymore.

I was a little worried about this process that it could damage my hair, but it was not the case. My hair are still healthy even though they were dyed and highlighted previously.

  • Pros: good experience, no waiting time
  • Cons: none

Fabulous services

by sureworthit at Citysearch

Dean is amazing...I originally went to him for a thermal relaxer treatment recommended by another salon, which turned out to have bad effects after my hair was colored by the other salon. It was NOT Dean's fault, but he undertook fixing the situation and totally got my hair back to better than new condition! I subsequently went back to my natural color, a smart move, and my hair is in the best condition its ever been in, thanks to Dean's help. He was generous with his time and expertise, and has since been the person I use for cuts, relaxers, products, etc...I HIGHLY recommend Salon Juno to anyone!

  • Pros: good service, tuned in to what was needed
  • Cons: none

Never a Bad Haircut

by EastsideCustomer at Citysearch

Dean has been my stylist for the last 8 years. He is always does a great job on my haircuts and in the last year coloring my hair. I always feel confident letting him pick out the colors and it always turns out great. His haircuts are also wonderful and grow out nicely, which helps since I am not able to make it back to see him whenever I want to. I have recommended him to a lot of my friends and once they see him they always go back to him!

  • Pros: nice ambience in the salon, always good service

Better hair, less money

by savvythrift at Citysearch

I just wanted to make people aware they may be spending too much on thermal reconditioning. I have been getting thermals for four years now and was paying $750 for the service at one of the big fancy chains in the area. I was so afraid of someone might damage my hair I continued paying too much until I was layed off. Unfortunately the roots don't stop coming in and I needed to look my best for job interviews. I called around and researched salons and the products they use. I chose Salon Juno because they use the genuine Japanese products and have a lot of experience. I ended up saving $250 and my hair looks as good as it ever has. Dean did a great job and was quite efficient

Money well spent!

by ElizabethHunt at Citysearch

I recently had my hair permanently straigtened at Salon Juno in Bellevue. I can hardly believe it is my hair. I was always envious when I would see someone with straight hair that doesn't require a flat iron. Now I am one of those people! I have two young children and without time for myself my hair always seemed to end up in a pony tail and a frizzed out one at that. My hair is much shinier and softer than before and dries straight even without drying.

I could tell Dean has a lot of experience with Japanese straighteners which allowed me to relax and enjoy the process. I highly recommend Dean at Salon Juno!

  • Pros: relaxing environment, parking
  • Cons: took over 3 hours

Bad Experience

by JillianLe at Citysearch

I should wrote something months ago but never did. I went in to Salon Juno for thermal straightening with Dean. He was very nice and professional. When he finished with my hair it looked AWESOME, but costing $540 plus a $90 tip, I suppose it should! I was told to wait 3 full days before washing and I did, but after washing my hair it didn't look quite the same. I had some strange waves and frizz. I was pretty disappointed and I am not the type to typically complain, so I continued flat ironing my hair. My husband told me that after paying that much money I needed to call him, so I did. He was very polite and told me that he would redo it and that maybe he hadn't left the product on my hair quite long enough. He scheduled me in that same week. When I went in he told me that he had just been trained on a new Keratin Complex straightening and that he could either repeat the process that he had done before or that we could try this new process. I asked what he recommended and he said that he would love to try the new process and that it is actually supposed to make your hair healthier. I was a little nervous, but he seemed confident. During this process your hair is flat ironed with an extremely hot iron. The initial product smelled really good, but after my hair was flat ironed it smelled to me like burning hair. I was getting really nervous, but never said anything thinking it must be normal??? By the time I left there I had spent another $60 and smelled terrible and I honestly didn't think my hair looked good at all, but figured maybe after I wash it in 3 days? The very next day I ran my fingers through my hair and you would not believe the broken hair that fell into my lap. It was extremely bad so I called Dean right away. He said well it looked good when you left yesterday, I'm sure the worst of it is over... he didn't seem to believe me at all or even care, he was very unprofessional. I had to get another haircut and still have damaged hair.

  • Cons: I paid $690 for extremely damaged hair
