I love my new hair! Love it!

by Yoodle at Citysearch

::revised 3-2-08 to include Geena's new contact info -- Salon Rubio 990 102nd Ave NE, #3 Bellevue, WA 98004::

I went in the first part of August to get my hair thermo straightened. My stylist was Geena, she was clear with me from the start about what to expect and the cost just in case it wasn't something I was comfortable with. She asked me what I thought would happen and then told me what would happen to my hair. It went from being curly (think Julia Roberts in the 80's) to straight (think Jennifer Aniston only not as perfect). I do not use a hair dryer, I wash every other day, apply pureology straightener, apply a shine and go. My hair would be straighter if I used a dryer but even after 3 weeks it's still very straight, I can't keep my hands off it.

If you do this, follow the instructions, do not get it wet or fiddle with it for 3 days. This will mean no showering but it's worth it. Also, apply the conditioner as recommended, I leave it in once a week over night and rinse in the morning. Geena said that if I didn't keep my hair healthy when it was time to redo it, she wouldn't if it wasn't in good shape.

Be prepared for the cost - it will cost you a lot but you're going to have amazing hair and if you want straight hair that isn't frizzy, you'll love it.

  • Pros: Professional, knowledgeable, well trained and no pressure.
  • Cons: Very expensive, the good news is cost is determined at the consultation not after service.

Best hair stylist ever!

by mhfnet at Citysearch

I always love my haircuts from Joy and everyone that I have referred says they same about all of her hair services. You know you are being treated special when you get a relaxing scalp massage with your haircut. I still laugh about the time a single male friend of mine had two admiring women come up to give him there phone numbers the same day after he got a haircut by her. I have also seen before and after pictures of some of the work she done on several female clients and all I can say is WOW! From one of your happy clients, Michael

  • Pros: Any service Joy does and compliments you will get.

Thermal Reconditioning

by lucita777 at Citysearch

I was struggling with my frizzy hair for a long time. I tried Keratin Complex but it started to revert after 2 months, and after that I still had to use flat iron to get rid of frizz.

After Dean did my permanent hair straightening at Juno Salon, my hair are straight, shiny, and I don't have frizz anymore.

I was a little worried about this process that it could damage my hair, but it was not the case. My hair are still healthy even though they were dyed and highlighted previously.

  • Pros: good experience, no waiting time
  • Cons: none

Fabulous services

by sureworthit at Citysearch

Dean is amazing...I originally went to him for a thermal relaxer treatment recommended by another salon, which turned out to have bad effects after my hair was colored by the other salon. It was NOT Dean's fault, but he undertook fixing the situation and totally got my hair back to better than new condition! I subsequently went back to my natural color, a smart move, and my hair is in the best condition its ever been in, thanks to Dean's help. He was generous with his time and expertise, and has since been the person I use for cuts, relaxers, products, etc...I HIGHLY recommend Salon Juno to anyone!

  • Pros: good service, tuned in to what was needed
  • Cons: none

Never a Bad Haircut

by EastsideCustomer at Citysearch

Dean has been my stylist for the last 8 years. He is always does a great job on my haircuts and in the last year coloring my hair. I always feel confident letting him pick out the colors and it always turns out great. His haircuts are also wonderful and grow out nicely, which helps since I am not able to make it back to see him whenever I want to. I have recommended him to a lot of my friends and once they see him they always go back to him!

  • Pros: nice ambience in the salon, always good service

Better hair, less money

by savvythrift at Citysearch

I just wanted to make people aware they may be spending too much on thermal reconditioning. I have been getting thermals for four years now and was paying $750 for the service at one of the big fancy chains in the area. I was so afraid of someone might damage my hair I continued paying too much until I was layed off. Unfortunately the roots don't stop coming in and I needed to look my best for job interviews. I called around and researched salons and the products they use. I chose Salon Juno because they use the genuine Japanese products and have a lot of experience. I ended up saving $250 and my hair looks as good as it ever has. Dean did a great job and was quite efficient

Money well spent!

by ElizabethHunt at Citysearch

I recently had my hair permanently straigtened at Salon Juno in Bellevue. I can hardly believe it is my hair. I was always envious when I would see someone with straight hair that doesn't require a flat iron. Now I am one of those people! I have two young children and without time for myself my hair always seemed to end up in a pony tail and a frizzed out one at that. My hair is much shinier and softer than before and dries straight even without drying.

I could tell Dean has a lot of experience with Japanese straighteners which allowed me to relax and enjoy the process. I highly recommend Dean at Salon Juno!

  • Pros: relaxing environment, parking
  • Cons: took over 3 hours

Bad Experience

by JillianLe at Citysearch

I should wrote something months ago but never did. I went in to Salon Juno for thermal straightening with Dean. He was very nice and professional. When he finished with my hair it looked AWESOME, but costing $540 plus a $90 tip, I suppose it should! I was told to wait 3 full days before washing and I did, but after washing my hair it didn't look quite the same. I had some strange waves and frizz. I was pretty disappointed and I am not the type to typically complain, so I continued flat ironing my hair. My husband told me that after paying that much money I needed to call him, so I did. He was very polite and told me that he would redo it and that maybe he hadn't left the product on my hair quite long enough. He scheduled me in that same week. When I went in he told me that he had just been trained on a new Keratin Complex straightening and that he could either repeat the process that he had done before or that we could try this new process. I asked what he recommended and he said that he would love to try the new process and that it is actually supposed to make your hair healthier. I was a little nervous, but he seemed confident. During this process your hair is flat ironed with an extremely hot iron. The initial product smelled really good, but after my hair was flat ironed it smelled to me like burning hair. I was getting really nervous, but never said anything thinking it must be normal??? By the time I left there I had spent another $60 and smelled terrible and I honestly didn't think my hair looked good at all, but figured maybe after I wash it in 3 days? The very next day I ran my fingers through my hair and you would not believe the broken hair that fell into my lap. It was extremely bad so I called Dean right away. He said well it looked good when you left yesterday, I'm sure the worst of it is over... he didn't seem to believe me at all or even care, he was very unprofessional. I had to get another haircut and still have damaged hair.

  • Cons: I paid $690 for extremely damaged hair

Best Hair

by hipshopper0877 at Citysearch

I have never had so many compliments! Since getting the Japaneese Thermal Reconditioning Process at Salon Juno my hair has never looked so good. Sometimes I don't even dry my hair with a dryer and it stays straight and smooth. No more frizz.

It was the first time a guy had done my hair so I was a little nervous. Dean was very friendly and professional which put me at ease right away.

The process can be a bit pricey but after getting consultations with stylists at other salons I realized Salon Juno was the best value for my length of hair. I was quoted up to $800 at other salons so at $500 I feel like I got a deal.

Dean was also good at explaining the process and what hair products would be best to keep my hair looking beautiful without being pushy. I can't stand high pressure sales pitches!

If you want amazing results without over paying give Salon Juno a try.

  • Pros: great parking, good coffee, friendly staff
  • Cons: I couldn't wash my hair for three days

Thermal reconditioning

by sherryc7 at Citysearch

I recently had my hair straightened at Salon Juno with Dean. I was a little nervous at first because I had been going to another stylist who had recently left. They assured me that Dean was one of the best in the area at the thermal reconditioning process so I went for it. They were right! It is the best my hair has ever looked and it feels awesome. I appreciate the passion Dean has for his work. He had attended a class on the latest in products and techniques for straightening the day before I saw him. I like knowing my stylist is keeping up with technology and is finding ways to provide better results for his clients. This is a stylist I will follow anywhere!

  • Pros: easy to park and friendly staff

Amazing!

by KatyDrager at Citysearch

I just had my hair thermally straightened and I love it!! I went to Shane and he is awesome. I highly recommend him. The process takes about 4 hours, but the time flies by. I am so happy I decided to do this!!! I have been using a flat iron for years and this is just so much better. It is exactly what I wanted. Salon Juno is in a great - I wouldn't go anywhere else for this process.

  • Pros: Great location - free parking
  • Cons: None that I can think of
