I have been going to the chapel every since they open a few years ago. This is a great spot for happy hour and yes they have a beautiful space but the staff RUINS it! They are not consistent with their level or service and they always seem really put out to do their jobs. Come on people open your eyes!
Pros: Drinks
Cons: Service

My buddies and I like to go to Chapel because of the people watching, great drinks and small plates. I have had not so good experiences with some of the staff because they seem to be rude. I was almost thinking that they were trying to be "rude" to be cool or something. But I had hands down the worst experience last Friday (2/15/08) when we were celebrating a birthday and this gal that waited on us was such a dragon lady. We had a big party and people were leaving early and paying separately and we still saw their items on our final bill! Not only did we have to refresh her memory but she was very grumpy and moody. It took us about 30min to resolve the issue and I have to say that I will think twice when a buddy makes a suggestion to go to Chapel. BAD SERVICE!
Pros: drinks and food
Cons: staff

Dear Chapel Owners, Please hire new staff now if you want your loyal customers to indeed remain loyal. I was there last Sunday, and noticed two unoccupied bar stools at either edge of the bar. Being logical, I figured my friend and I could move them closer together to sit at the bar. But, instead, I was reprimanded and told to move the chairs back to the side so the bar patrons can be served. Ok, makes sense right? I shouldn't be in the way, especially since the bar is 20' long, and no one was waiting in line, and there were only about 10 people in the bar, and because it was eight o'clock (a notorious peak time during the Seattle winter seasons). Make way for a big city attitude in a small town-it's Chapel's best menu item.
Pros: Love that it used to be a creamatorium
Cons: If I wanted real style with my drink, I would go to LA, not Seattle. Thanks.

Horrible Service, not kidding when I say the waiter yelled and pushed us out of the way while we were standing having a few cocktails. Hey if your having a bad day, leave it at home. The place was very pretty. But the service - the worst in Seattle. Spend you money elsewhere.
Pros: Great atmosphere
Cons: lousy service, pretentious, why?

OK, so there are many opinions on this establishment...and we all know that long reviews dont always get read start to finish. It is a beautiful bar, with great looking patrons, excellent music on the weekends and a bar staff that is fantastic. For those that say that their service can be slow...have you seen the drink menu? Have you watched how long it takes to make a specialty martini? If you want quick cocktails...try someplace that can just pour a beer. I have been back several times and with bartenders like Joe, Jenny and Cameron (I make it a point to go back to them...as they have each provided great service each time I have been there), I will continue to visit. It has quickly become the establishment where my friends and I start our weekends. I would highly recommend!
Pros: Diverse Drink Menu, Service and Atmosphere
Cons: The bar stools are a bit tall...but then again, so is the bar...the price you pay!

I recently had my birthday party at the chapel and it turned out to be the best I've ever had. It was a large group of people but there was absolutely no problem using seperate cards to pay for seperate bills. Everything went smoothly from the more than attentive server (Mitchell) to the food order we placed. The venue is amazing and the atmosphere was perfect. The only issue we had was that people who were not invited to the party kept wandering upstairs to our area and taking seats among our group. We had to tell a few groups of people that it was a private party. It might have been nice to have a bigger sign at the bottom of the stairs to avoid this situation. Other than that, I highly reccomend this place for a private event.

I had a tab issue where two people were seemingly charged for the same tab, but it seems that this was a misunderstanding and that the charges were "pending" and would go away within a couple days.
Pros: Nice atmosphere.
Cons: Awkward since it's a converted chapel.

I loved the chocolate colored walls in this unique bar. The bar itself is beautiful although all of their liquor is not displayed which I found odd. Food is decent and $4.00 for martinis during a long happy hour is great. Beware they run out of mint and other components of their drinks quiet often which can be frustrating. Overall worth a visit though.
Pros: martinis and style
Cons: comfort

the chapel is not for everyone. if you read the reviews posted here, you'll find that people either adore, or despise this establishment. i can give you a few reasons why i agree with both sides, but really, i'd rather just help you understand how to enjoy it. (because i do) this place used to be a funeral home, and has been tastefully, dare i say, brilliantly redesigned to be a beautiful new york style spot for people watching and socializing. so do as they do in new york, and plan ahead... don't go for friendly service and a quick drink. the specialty cocktails are amazing, but take a long time to make. the staff is quite possibly a secret society of beautiful people who hate to be rushed, so order your beverages two at a time (i'm not kidding) bring your most attractive friends here, and wear your best shoes, the chapel is a fashion show. dive bar lovers: just relax, this place is fun, it just takes the right frame of mind. sample the top-notch appetizers, try AT LEAST 3 of the many martini infusions, (they're wonderful) and have fun watching everyone be really really pretty.
