Great food for a great price!
by redmond980
My husband and I have eaten here many times and have been very pleased every time. I am a veggie and he is not. Their menu has a wide variety of dishes to please any palate. The food is different than any other food i have eaten but it was delicious. The service is always good and the prices are amazing. We have a hard time not going there when we venture out of the eastside and into the city. I would highly recommend giving this little cafe a try.
- Pros: small cozy cafe
- Cons: parking
Simply perfection
by owl73
I brought a group of 17 to eat here by prior arrangement with Hirut. She did an absolutely wonderful job accomodating us: she not only set a big, private table, but served bountiful delicious food and even bought a cake in the market to serve for dessert. I can't thank her enough for her hospitality. I'll certainly be back!
- Pros: delicious food and gracious hostess
Great little gem in seattle!
by TWPANA
I love this restaurant. It's perfectly lit and a great place to have dinner on those wonderful seattle nights. The atmosphere and the ethiopian music is calm and soothing, even ROMANTIC. The food at Pan Africa is always great , the prices are more than reasonable and the customer service is wonderful. I am definately comming back. I suggest you give it a try.
- Pros: Great food and service
- Cons: Parking
good food, great location, but the injira misses the mark
by druhim
Great atmosphere with warm colors and friendly service. The food is quite good and the location is great as a launching point for a night out downtown. My biggest criticism is that the injira is lacking in my opinion. It's not thick and substantial enough nor is enough provided with your meal for it to serve it's purpose as your eating utensil. It tends to fall apart more readily than the injira at my favorite place and you'll run out before you're done. Still this is a pretty minor complaint and I recommend this restaurant.
- Pros: flavorful, spicy food and warm, welcoming decor
- Cons: the injira is too thin and flimsy
Always Great!

My friends and I work downtown and make it a point to go to Pan-Africa at least once a month. The cost is reasonable, the service is fast and friendly, and the food never disappoints. We have a vegetarian in the group, and he loves the Veggie Sample Platter served on Injera (soft, ethiopian flat bread - tastes a little like sourdough bread). My favorite is the chicken & apricots. Delicious!
- Pros: Excellent, consistent food, reasonable cost, friendly service, easy to walk/bus from downtown
- Cons: Outside seating is loud (right on 1st Ave)
Great Value ($8), friendly, accomidating, sweet honey wine, amazing flavors!

Great Value ($8), friendly, accomidating, sweet honey wine, amazing flavors! Too bad they don't still have the sunday buffet.
- Pros: Flavors and size vs. Value. Next to Pike Pl. Market
- Cons: On street parking, not closer to my home.
Best Cheap eats and great ethnic experience
by afolse
My boyfriend and myself tried this place after passing it when touring around Pike's Place. It was highly recommended as one of the best cheap eats in the city, and we were not let down. We went for lunch and each ordered a meat dish for lunch. Our food arrived quickly and we were greatly surprised to see that the main dish came with about four or five different vegetable dishes for sampling, which were all delicious. The food is served on a unique type of porous bread that you are encouraged to use as a fork, which we did and could not get enough of. I wanted to go back again and am still longing for the wonderful ethiopian food we encountered at this jem of a place.
- Pros: Cheap, delicious, flavorful, and quick
- Cons: Nothing unless you don't like spice

9.4 for this restaurant? Give me a break. Injura is not very good, potatoes and chicken were tasteless. Same thing with my wife's food. Would not go again. Nice people though.
- Pros: Vegetarian Options, Central Location
- Cons: So so food at best
Eating with your hands has never been so fun!

As vegetarians, the menu offered us plenty to choose from. The ground nut stew was scrumptious, as well as the veggie sautee.
Excellent curried corn.
by maozed
My boyfriend and I went here not too long ago and the food was great. I had some kind of curried corn dish that was amazing. My boyfriend had the standard vegetarian combo. Both were really good. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The only down side was that they were doing construction so there were really loud hammering and sawing noises. The waiter did warn us about this when we entered though, and he apologized for it. The food made up for any annoyance caused by the loud construction. I'm looking forward to going back.
- Pros: Vegetarian options
- Cons: Construction
