Best Sushi On Eastside

by wasmik at Citysearch

I was very pleasantly surprised by this little sushi house in Kirkland. I am an avid reader of Citysearch reviews, and have been to all the "top rated" sushi places in the Seattle area. It is easy for me to say that Sake House is really the best undiscovered high quality sushi house I've been looking for. No hype, no crowds, just honest to goodness ultra fresh sushi. I was speaking with the owner and it seems like it changed management recently. They are really revamping this place to become the top notch sushi joint on the Eastside...if not all of Seattle. They've won me over, and I will become a regular at the Sake House.

  • Pros: Fresh Fish, Good Sake, Sashimi

Good food, bad service

by anthonyc1969 at Citysearch

Good food, terrible service, to be exact, no service and lots of waiting in between.

I would avoid going back unless i saw nobody in the restaurant.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: terrible service

Freshest Sushi!

by jags999 at Citysearch

We went there last night and had an incredible meal! The calamari appetizer was TENDER! All of the sushi we had tasted like they just caught it. The Toro, Maguri and Unagi were exceptional. Our waitress was very helpful when we had a couple questions. Great selection of sushi and sake!

Great Sushi

by italianmomma at Citysearch

Blue Fish is the best sushi restaurant I have found on the Eastside. I am a sushi-addict, so I've been to many. The fish is always fresh and looks beautiful. They have an extensive menu of creative rolls as well, I recommend the crunchy roll. You can't beat the prices at happy hour, they don't discount the whole sushi menu, but the selection that is chosen is cheap! Great way to have a quality sushi meal and not break the bank. Other Japanese dishes on the menu are also well done, so even if you're not into the sushi, you will be pleased with your meal.

  • Pros: Great sushi
  • Cons: Service is sometimes slow

BEST SUSHI PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN

by SHANMO at Citysearch

I JUST WENT TO THIS PLACE WITH MY FRIEND TODAY. IT IS MY FIRST TIME THERE AND I AM VERY IMPRESSIVE BY THE SUSHI WHICH THE CHEFT MADE. THE RED DRAGRON IS MY FAVIROTE. THE WAY THEY PRESENT THE SUSHI ROLL IS VERY INTERESTING TOO. I AM GLAD THAT WE CHOSE THIS PLACE TO CELEBRATE FOR MY FRIEND WHO FOUND A NEW JOB. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR DINNER. ALSO, I HEARD PEOPLE SAID THAT THEY HAVE VERY GOOD HAPPY HOUR.

Blue Fish gaves us the blues...

by debora2000 at Citysearch

Since new owners take over, this place has gone downhill. Bad service, pricey, and as the other reviewers mentioned, not recommended. Wish I found this review earlier.

  • Pros: tofu dish, pricey but good.
  • Cons: Pricey, bad service, need a new chef.

Hidden gem in Kirkland

by yj0420 at Citysearch

I have frequented Blue Fish before it changed its name from "Sake House"

Their new sushi chef reminds me of authentic sushi that I would have when I visit Japan.

There are so many "fake" sushi joints in Seattle area, especially Bellevue, but Blue Fish is the closest to actual Japanese sushi in my opinion (along with I love Sushi chains).

"Lobster roll" is a must try there...

Also, although it may not look it, they have a great SAKE menu, that the owner carefully selected over the years. I wish it would promote its sake and tapas menu more extensively...

  • Pros: Authentic Sushi
  • Cons: Some waitresses not too friendly

Avoid at least for dinner

by artimon at Citysearch

Food- nothing exceptional - we spend $110 for a modest quality sushi (one order), salad, a small tofu dish (best thing we tasted on the menu), 1 teriyaki chicken (dry like a bone), 1 small bowl of rice, small appetizer (cold greens) 1 beer and two diet cokes, two cup of tea, two bowls of Ice cream.

The waiter was terrible and angry - she was constantly in a big hurry and we felt like she does not really want to serve or answer any questions. She was very unpleasant in her demeanor. By mistake, she forgot to serve us our tea and forgot to charge it on the credit card. After we played our bill we waited for about 10-15 min for the tea and than we asked her about our order. 10 min later, she delivered two small cups (30 ml) of watery tea. Not only she did not apologize about her mistake, she said that we have to pay extra for two teas $3.00.

You can get same quality of food at the much better price and better survice at the " I love sushi" in Bellevue or if you don't mind to spend a bit more you can have a great sushi dinner and excellent service at Shiro's or Nashino

  • Cons: almost no parking, very overpriced, terrible service

Avoid - especially for those Microsoft Passport holders

by lex3y at Citysearch

I have tried several sushi restaurants in town. This one was a total disappointment. The place has terrible service and below average quality. Not a true Japanese chef. We had to ask for water twice and still waited over 10 minutes. The waitress forgot one of my sushi order. The ramen we ordered had only 1/4 soup. When asked the waitress for additional soup, the response was "she will try." Needless to say, we didn't get our additional soup and got a funny look from the waitress.

And for those Microsoft Passport Holders, this place for some reason won't take your discount card. They will accept all other passport cards, except Microsoft ones. So, avoid this place if you can.

I strongly recommend going to Riki Riki's next time. Also in Kirkland and accepts Microsoft passport cards. This place won't be opened for too long with this kind of service.

  • Pros: the location
  • Cons: everything else - food, service, cleaniness, and attitude

Good Sushi. Good Value

by scottdrum at Citysearch

The Sushi is excellent and quite reasonable. I suggest the Tempura and Sushi dinner, which is probably more than you can eat and only $18 as I recall.
