Used to be good

by ChipsAhoy

Now, I don't mean to speak poorly about all the bartenders, but I just had the worst experience with one of them. I paid for a drink, but it was alot more than I remember the last time I was there- I didn't have enough to tip... So I went out to an atm, came back and found the same bartender for another drink. I told him that I wanted to tip him better, but he basically told me to get lost and wouldn't serve me! I know misunderstandings happen, but this was inexcusable... so much different than what it used to be. Tourists love this place. Let them have it.

  • Pros: Um...
  • Cons: An extension of Belltown idiots, even the bartenders

Like your favorite old T-Shirt...

by nineater

I just turned 21 and the Whisky was one of the first places I went- and I loved it! It's cool and |aid back, and has a rock-n-roll feel to it. It was much better than the other, snooty places on 2nd. A place for rockin' guys and grrls and good drinks, too!

  • Pros: Good drinks, service is alright, music
  • Cons: Parking is bad, don't drive!

unless you're a rich wanna-be punk rocker, don't go to this place

by klove322

i've been here twice and both times i've left with a sour taste in my mouth. the bartender was extremely rude, homely and impatient. a guinness and two long islands cost $22 and they don't accept credit cards. the music is too loud you have to shout to your friends to have a conversation. this place is basically an extremely overpriced divebar with awful service and so-called punk-rockers that all look like they're going to shoot themselves. enjoy!

Glowing experience

by owen101683

Not sure what night I went to this bar but Queensryche was playing at the Moore's across the street. This was probably the best nightspot I went to on my trip to Seattle. Can't really say there were any negatives about the experience Drink prices and selection were reasonable, the mix of people at the bar was diverse, and the DJ was great. All the bars along 2nd Ave. were pretty good but this was a personal favorite of myself and a couple of others that went with me.

Loud music, cheap drinks and a diverse Belltown crowd frequent this popular Seattle watering hole.

by Contributor

In Short
Well removed from the rest of the Belltown club scene, this British-owned dive bar is a fresh breath of air. All of the typical highlights are present: pool tables and a jukebox in the back, a rowdy clientele that often needs soothing and boisterous bartenders who will cut you off at a whim. Dim, red lighting is coupled with walls showcasing moody portraits of sultry femme fatales.

A BAR YOU WILL FEEL A PART OF!

by somegirlinseattle

The Whisky Bar is a bar that will take you in as their own as they did me. I have never been to a bar like it in all my life!! Everyone is friendly. It is a most curious place. You can find people from all walks of life and not feel out of place. Isn't that what we are striving for - a world where everyone of all types and races can get along and enjoy the atmosphere? I agree with the other reviews -IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A POSH BAR..THIS IS NOT IT! If you are looking for a bar to feel comfortable in and to actually feel a part of something - THIS IS THE PLACE! " A HOME AWAY FROM HOME! "

  • Pros: MUSIC, DRINKS, POOL
  • Cons: NADA!!!

Arrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggg!

by inu_shio_luvrr

I disagree with every negitive posts! I go with ms points and the other supporters because not only is it a great place to hang out, but you can widen your circle of friends and what not. I guess if you're looking for a butler to wait on you hand and foot and give you anything you desire on earth and where your snooty friends hang out like the selfish people who think they are better then everyone this is not the place to go because the whiskey bar is a place to have fun, hang out and drink! Isn't that what bars are for?

  • Pros: mainly everything
  • Cons: crowded...?

I can't believe the negative responses!

by mspoints

This is the most upcomming bar in Seattle! It is a great place to hang out and not just meet people, but develope friends! The Cheers type atmosphere is unmatched in Seattle. This is not just a local corner bar, people are going from all neighborhoods.

The person who put in the negative review must have done something to irritate the bartender that they are not disclosing.

They serve good drinks at a reasonable price!

They don't offer table service, you must go to the bar for orders. This is part of the atmosphere, no posh coctailers running around.

I would encourage everyone to give it a try!

  • Pros: Music, Clientelle, drink value
  • Cons: , crowded at times

Terrible Experience

by umbra98

There were 9 of us at a small table. Most of the group had been drinking there for awhile when I joined. We needed to move to a larger table.

After about 20 minutes passed, the bartender asked us to leave if we weren't drinking.

She did so in a very rude manner. She could have asked if we wanted drinks. She could have asked if we could share our table with people who had drinks. Instead she basically kicked us out of her bar.

We ordered drinks at the first table we sat at. My friend confronted her and she said it had something to do with cleaning the tables. That even if we all got cokes or water then it would have been fine.

It was a terrible experience in customer service. I plan to never go back there, and I'd encourage other people to follow suit.

  • Pros: music
  • Cons: , smokey, expensive

Best bar in Seattle to just hang out.

by manifest

I couldn't disagree more with the other review. In fact, I signed up for an account just to retort. The whisky Bar is hands down my favorite bar in town. It's a dive bar in expensive clothing. It's one of the most consistent bars in town. You know what's going to happen when you go there, you're going to drink (normally, a lot), hang out with your friends, and listen to good music. If you get board with that you can play foosball or air hockey. The staff have always been MORE than friendly with me. I can only imagine that the other reviewer was expecting some posh Belltown bar, which The Whisky Bar thankfully isn't.

  • Pros: Staff, Music, Happy Hour
  • Cons: , Belltown People
