I've eaten at this Claim Jumper at least ten times. I've been overwhelmed by so many things; the size of the menu, the size of the drinks menu, the size of the PORTIONS...and occassionally the wait for a table. This is a bad place to be on a busy Friday/Saturday night if you didn't plan ahead. But, this is an awesome place to be when you actually get in and get a table. The chicken fried steak is good (and HUGE), the salads are good (and HUGE), the pot-pies are good (yeah they're HUGE too). I ordered the beef ribs one time. They brought four (yes they were HUGE) beef ribs and I, normally considered a big eater, only got through one rib. The desserts are respectable, which is hard to find in most restaurants not to mention a chain restaurant and they are HUGE. One piece of the chocolate cake I've seen feed six people!

Pros: food, extensive menus, portion size

Cons: long waits on busy nights for a table

Huge portions at a not so bad price. The three times I have been there I've been satisfied with everything I've eaten. The fried chicken and biscuits with garlic mashed potatoes is to die for, but I advise the not so big eaters to get the half order, the garlic cheese bread comes in basically a whole loaf of bread served on a platter and the shrimp wrapped in tortillas and then fried are delicious. Can never go bad with fried food.

Pros: Huge helpings

I have eaten in the restaurant twice -- and ordered "take-out" several times. In the restaurant, service is a bit spotty -- mostly due to the youth and inexperience of the servers. My food was always fine -- never great -- but, for a huge chain-restaurant...OK. If you are looking for fine dining, romantic ambience or stellar service...look elsewhere. Unlike most other reviewers -- my food has been pretty good. But, as the service can be frustrating -- I recommend doing "take-out". We will order a couple of the (huge) salads and one entree and share it...it makes for a fairly cheap "stay-at-home" dinner -- and no dishes to wash (...or servers to tip).

Pros: Large portions and extensive menu options...

Cons: Spotty service...

I've worked in the food industry for years and have had 6 jobs since my current occupation and always left on good terms. It shows why there is a high turn over rate in the food service industry when you have a bad representative of the restaurant you are eating at. As a former server I know what it should mean when representing your company or worrying about getting a fat tip. I know what it means when you get screwed by the cheap-asses of this world that you just served(You know who you are, can't even leave 15%) then take it out on your other customers. Well I usually give servers the benefit of the doubt when less than expected service is given to me based on my appearance and age but as good as my meal was at Claim Jumpers the server felt average, and so I settled for giving her 15% gratuity, I just wish she knew with more effort and a better attitude, she could of gotten better.

Pros: Nice atmosphere and safe location for families

Cons: 20min.s-1hr wait for seats on thurs-Sunday

I would love to tell you how the food was but I didn't get any. I tried, but all they served me was a beer and a menu. The beer was good. After watching the wait staff take orders from people who arrived after me I decided that if I did order food it would probably arrive after an hour. Cold. I wanted a big steak so after 30 minutes of looking at a folded menu I left cash for the beer and went somewhere else.

This eating establishment is a perfect example of american over-"indulgence". If you're looking for reasonably priced, ginormous portions of mediocre food, this is the place for you. I've eaten at Claim Jumper's twice now, and both times the food was, quite simply, bad. My salad was wilted, the brushetta was soggy and over-salted(as was everything else) and entrees were huge, but lacking flavor. Mile-high chocolate cake was DRY!! I could not believe it. If you are at all interested in eating quailty food, head on over to the alderwood food court. I'm sure you'll have better luck there.

Pros: Plenty of leftovers, Value

Cons: Bad food
