Horrible Place

by patuw

Drinks are expensive and weak, the atmosphere is a strong 3 out of 10, and everyone that works there has a classic small town rent-a-cop power complex. YOU HAVE NO REASON TO GO TO THIS CLUB, there are better places within a few blocks in any direction.

War Room is worth checking out

by MadisonParker

I love the War Room. From Yo Son! (hip hop) on Saturdays to 2080's (80's mash-up) on Wednesdays, I always have a great time there. The dance floor is always hoppin', the upstairs deck is a great place to go when the crush of people gets too much or on just to enjoy a hot summer night, and the art in the joint is amazing, think it's done by the same artist who does OBEY clothing.

The place continually has some of my favorite local DJs spinnin', Four Color Zack, DV One, and of course DJ Scene. And I like the crowd. Not the kind of cheesy night clubbers you'll see in a Pioneer Square club.

Def one of my favorite spots in Seattle.

Oh yeah, and the drinks? Stiff.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

by aliyah

I have been going to the War Room on and off for several years and have noticed the quality decline and definitely agree with the reviews below about rude treatment of customers. I was there on Friday night (hip hop night) with a large group for my sister's birthday. The women's restroom line was LONG around midnight. Only one toilet out of two in the women's toilet's was functioning. One of my guy friends was in the men's room and said he would guard the staff if I wanted to use the men's restroom. After using the restroom, I was washing my hands and a "Peace Keeper" (bouncer) saw me. He grabbed my arm and said "You gotta go." I had only had two drinks and was clearly sober and in control. As he grabbed my arm and escorted me out I asked if I had to leave the restroom and all he said was "You gotta go" while pushing me out of the club. When we were outside the club, he announced to the doorman, in front of everyone who was standing outside, that I could not come back in the club. This was humiliating!

As the users below, I am not the troublemaking type. I am 27 years old and have NEVER been kicked out of a club, let alone any establishment!! I have been to the War Room several times in the past when the bouncers actually allow women to use the men's room when there are long lines. I would have appreciated being asked not to use the men's restroom if this was against the rules.

I sent an email to explain this situation to Marcus at the War Room who put us on the guestlist. He has not responded and I'm very disappointed that they don't see any value in customer service.

The War Room has a great layout and the rooftop lounge area is so nice in the summer. It's too bad they seem to be driving away the crowd that likes to have fun and can handle their liquor without getting into fights! They also lost at least $300 in drink sales as our group of about 20 all left after I was so rudely treated and kicked out. I will never return.

  • Pros: Great layout, patio upstairs is nice, drinks are good
  • Cons: Service is horrible, bouncers are rude and treat people like criminals

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

by andreaGe

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The bouncers and security are ridiculous! I had a flashlight in my face more than 12 times throughout the night. I had only one or two drinks so it had nothing to do with my behavior, they were doing it to everyone at the place! At some points, I was just sitting on a couch talking with a girlfriend and I'd get a flashlight shining in my face coming from across the room. They obviously are now going overboard since they've had so much violence there recently. I would never spend a cover to get harassed like that again! Go to Baltic Room or Ballroom to dance, skip this place!

Avoid at all costs

by classicflyer

I would never go back to this place. The bouncers and "security" were extremely rude and confrontational all night, and my friends and I are far from the troublemaking type. Apparently I stood in the wrong place several times, at which point the "security" promptly shined a bright flashlight in my eyes and rudely told me to "get out of the way." Besides the rude employees, the music was terrible techno that left the dancefloor empty.

Overall it was a terrible waste of a cover charge. . .my rating would be two thumbs down!

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Rude "security" and bouncers, bad techno music

They will rip you off if you run a tab.

by prlax

We went on Friday night. There were three of us. We had two tabs. Both of us who had tabs got ripped off by at least $50 each. (3 Miller lites and 3 well vodkas should not cost $124). The bouncers were rude and the music was awful. Do NOT go here unless you want to be treated poorly and ripped off. It's unfortunate that a place with such potential chooses to operate this way.

Nice club atmosphere

by getfuzzygurl

This place has a pretty nice club atmosphere for Capital Hill. The interiors are well-designed and there is always a fun and happening vibe in this place. Since it IS Capital Hill, there will always be some quirky people but no one ever bothers you or ruins your evening. Not really a good place to eat, but the drinks are decent enough. The music and atmosphere are the main draw, by far.

As for the poor review below mine, I strongly suggest you think twice before respecting the review of someone who mimics the idiolect of a gang-banger and who obviously doesn't have any command of grammar or spelling.

  • Pros: atmosphere, dancing/music
  • Cons: parking, neighborhood

SING SING Friday's is the hippest party in Seattle!

by lalooks

I was visiting from LA and came across an article in the Stranger about the War Room night called Sing Sing and decided to check it out. My mind was completely blown! It was packed but not too packed leaving some room for me and my girlfriends to tear it up allllll night. The crowd was made up of hipsters but there were also a lot of just normal people who all seemed to be having the time of their lives. People were stage diving, singing a long to songs, it was like a total circus! So much fun!

The music was stuff that you would hear at Dim Mak Tuesday's @ Cinespace in LA or Dance Right @ La Cita with just as fashionable a crowd. I knew there had to be something like this in Seattle but I had yet to find it. I love you Sing Sing!

  • Pros: Crazy fun dancing, Great music, Great crowd
  • Cons: It only happens every 1st & 3rd Friday
