For guy's looking to find a place that 's not a big hassle, but does a great job cutting men's hair, check out Cutting Image. Specifically, I recommend Nikki (Nicole Sifuentes). I have a suit-&-tie job, but I don't want to look suit-&-tie when I go out. I'm in my late 20s and Nikki's cut has allowed me to balance both professional for the day, and East Village for the night. Thanks Nik.

I was lucky that my first hair cut in New York was here. I read all the reviews before I made my appt for a partial highlight and hair cut--and I am so glad I did. I was actually 10 minutes late and thought I'd get an earful... but actually Nikki was very understanding. Nikki did my highlights and my hair cut. She was exceptional. I usually don't leave reviews on city search unless a business is either really bad or really good---and Cutting Image really is on the really good side. Nikki was friendly and approachable. I could tell her what I wanted done to my hair and she listened. Nikki truly has a strong background working with hair. I work in Stamford and do the reverse commute---and it also helped that I was able to book an evening appt. Nikki is really talented at what she does---recommending which color highlights would go well and knowing which products to use for whatever type of hair---Nikki really knows hair. I will be going back again! Oh!---and they have wine too---it was good! :)

Pros: evening appts, wine, proximity, great service, cozy atmosphere, take visa, no sales pressure to buy stuff

Cons: don't take discover, only take cash/check tips

I recently went and got a cut and color at CUTTING IMAGE hair salon and had the BEST experience ever. The stylist really listen to everything you say and are so nice and very informative on styling tips. They also serve wine and it is so cute and cozy inside. Thanks for my great style...

I went to this place because it was so highly recommended on citysearch. The people there are very nice, but it is by far the worst haircut I have ever had in my whole life. I was very clear that I just wanted a trim - only about an inch off - and that I did not want a new style. The stylist cut my hair so short - she must have taken off 4 inches - so that now it is only about an inch long. It looks like someone ran over it with a lawn mower. I never thought a hair cut could make me feel so horrible - it's like she wasn't listening at all. This place was expensive and I expected to walk out with a great cut. I wish I had never gone there - it will take months for it to look somewhat normal again.

Pros: nice atmosphere

Cons: bad haircuts

I been going to Cutting Image for two years now. It is a very cozy and relaxing place. The service is reliable and fantastic. Since I have had MELISSA cutting and coloring my hair I look and feel more confident with myself. She is very sweet and friendly, she is well trained in haircuts, color and highlights. She is able to match skin tones and face types perfectly and give you hair to match your personalilty. (this is sooo hard to find!!) I recently started having her cut my kids hair as well. She is just great, and patient. My children just love her! She was able to give my son a haircut like Zac Efron(High School Musical) just from a picture. My son was so happy. If you are looking for a REAL PROFESSIONAL hair stylist MELISSA is it. Cutting Image is the place!!!

Cutting Image is the BEST hair salon around. I've been going for about 2 years now and I'm never disappointed. My stylist Nikki is FANTASTIC!! Blow-out, cut, style or color ...you will NEVER be disappointed. Highly recommend this place.... A+ across the board!!!! Get yo' hair did!! :)

I gave Tiffany a description of the haircut/color I wanted and showed her a picture in a magazine of the specific Reese Witherspoon hairstyle. I have to say that the haircut and color looked EXACTLY like the picture. She couldn't have been more on point!!! I have never in my life been so satisfied. I've never had bangs before but she gave me perfect, trendy bangs and I will CERTAINLY be going back to her from this point on. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Oh and there's a really cute boutique if you keep walking down 9th street..all around a great Sunday experience :)

Pros: fabulous service, kind people who aren't annoyingly chatty, JUST what I wanted

I've been going to Melissa since I moved to NYC a couple years ago, and I've never been disappointed. I've let her color and cut me, and she always ends up doing such an awesome job. I recently went in and let her cut off most of my hair, and I've never been happier. She's such a sweet person and always respects what you want, but she isn't afraid to tell you what will look great on you! Salon itself is cozy and warm. There's always great music and conversation; all the stylists are very friendly!

It has been a long search but I found Melissa. I have been having my hair colored for the last couple of years but have not been satisfied with the color until recently. A friend who always has stunning cuts and color recommended Melissa. I have not been disappointed. She provided me with a consultation and took baby steps with me to provide me with my new color as I hate drastic change. My color is fabulous and works well with my complexion it actually looks better then my natural color. I didn't think it was possible to have a haircut which is both trendy and traditional but Melissa has succeeded in giving me both (depending on how I decide to style it for the day). The salon is wonderful it has a relaxing spa atmosphere and a terrific friendly staff. I highly recommend Melissa she has a great eye for both the perfect cut and color.

I would very highly recommend this salon.Very professional cuts ,with a very reasonable price unlike so many other salons in the city. Very warm and friendly staff. They serve wine too. I used Nicky she was very meticulous with the cut and I am very satisfied with the results. Great location as well,there's parking in the area. Great choice,go for it!
