I just had such fun at their chocolate class, which was good for the tastings and the appreciation it gave me for chocolate in general. Without being snobby about it, they helped give me a sense of what makes good chocolate really GOOD, and I feel I now really enjoy it more as a result. More classes, please! This is a place where food enthusiasm is catching. Brava!

Pros: great classes, delicious food

A jewel of a find in Wallingford (and look closely, or you'll miss it as you go by on 45th). This is the place to come to fill in your pantry with all the little things that make good dining: excellent salts and spreads, cured tuna, Spanish paprika (easily the match of Hungarian, at a fraction of the price), and the like. They even have rare offerings seen few other places. I haven't come across Mostardo (a kind of "jam" made from grapes and either walnuts or hazelnuts, I believe) since I was in Italy, and their French cookies are perfect.

Pros: Excellent Selection, Unusual Offerings, Pretty Store

Went in on a recommendation to get an anniversary gift. Got a nice painted plate that I arragned with salami and cheese of my selection. SHe loved it! Now I get their pasta and sauce almost weekly. Try their trotolini (sp?) or exellent rav's. Tasty mocha too.

Pros: great pasta, great sauce, nice gifts

Cons: outdoor seats, please

OK, this is also a good place for people learning about wines and gourmet food, like me. I came here for a sandwich again and looked at the wines while waiting for it to grill, and I don't really know much about wine. The write-up cards made things sound good, and then one of the owners came over to talk to me and she helped me choose without making a big deal of it. I liked the wine I got, High Altitude (Argentina), and when I came back, I got an italian one that was also good but very different, and it was the first time I could taste that there was more difference in wines than just "good" and "bad," but how dark and fruity and heavy they are. Without all the information, I wouldn't have tried these or noticed the difference. And the sandwiches are great!

Pros: great information, good selections, nice staff

Not the biggest selection but smart, unusual choices at good values. I didn't consider this a wine destination until I got hooked on their Italian and Spanish reds. A good compliment to larger collections.

Pros: unique selections, good value, good advice

Cons: no Australian, few CA, stock rotates

Lovely store, like New York gourmet delis. So many good condiments, kitchen items, wines, and a staff that knows them all. Nice addition to Seattle!

Pros: fabulous foods, knowledgeable(?)staff, cute home items

Cons: bit hard to spot, not open mornings?
