A wonderful end to 2008!

by JBizy

I brought my girlfriend there for New Year's Eve, looking for a special evening. I got that and then some. This is the first time I've reviewed any place, but I thought that this evening warranted it, especially after last years train wreck.

I found this place online and chose it from the great reviews others had left on multiple sites. They only offered a preset menu for $75/person (but as I found out in years past, so does every place on New Year's). I know, sounds like a lot, but it was 5 courses + champagne.

We arrived 15 min. early for our 8PM res. and the place was packed. We did end up waiting 10 min. for a table, so we had a drink at the bar next door. Looking around the place looked a little old school, until I heard the muzak version of Nine Inch Nails! Ha! The service was incredible, or should I say the "server" because it looked like he had the whole restaurant himself, and yet he was still very attentive and helpful deciphering the Italian language on the menu. It looked like the owner running around helping, very nice guy also.

The food was spot on from the little bite of an appetizer that we were served with our champagne almost as soon as we sat down, to the awesome tiramisu (and I'm a connoisseur). I had the best carpaccio I've ever had, it was made from Kobe Beef! The mushroom risotto, (YUM), came out with the potent smell of truffles. And the Kobe New York (need I say more?). My girlfriend is a vegetarian and they had the whole spread for her too, and she loved it.

All in all a great meal that I will be returning to find. My girlfriend even dragged me into the women's bathroom (not like that) to show me, and the place was a palace, and all the guy's had was a lousy shoebox. I guess they know who to pamper.

Thanks for making 2008 go out with a boom.

  • Pros: Food, Service
  • Cons: Too far from my house!

Perfect

by kidgraphite

I took my wife here last weekend for her birthday. The food was excellent, the wine was a perfect complement, and the service (Chris, the owner) was outstanding. The restaurant has a small interior, with fireplace, and is nice and quiet so you can enjoy the company you are with. The food all tasted very fresh and flavorful.

I'm a transplant from San Francisco, and travel frequently. I have to say this was some of the best food and service I've experienced. Top drawer, in every regard. Thank you, Chris.

  • Pros: Fresh, flavorful food. Outstanding, friendly service. Quiet, warm, romantic. Perfect in every regard. An incredible find.

What a Great Find!

by TCoyne415

Just ate there with six people after walking by and thinking it looked interesting. What a find! We tried lots of dishes -- menu was very creative ("nuovo Italian" or Pacific NW Italian) with fresh ingredients, great preparation, superp service and a good, high value wine lis to boot. Sometimes in life, luck is with you and you find a great restaurant by accident. Tonight was our night -- we lived in San Francisco for 8 years, and this place would do very well there.

Best Head Chef, great service, delicious food

by rossfamily

We had heard that Twain was becoming head chef and we had to try it! We were Twain fan's at the former restaurant he was employed at. He was his usual creative self as he prepared a fantastic white wild King Salmon special, not what you would expect at an Italian restaurant, It was delicious. The food, ambiance, and personal attention was outstanding.

We will definately be back again soon!

  • Pros: Food, Ambience, personal attention
  • Cons: parking

Italian Food Done Right

by jfurlan

Once I'm home from work, I don't much like getting out in the freezing rain to drive around downtown looking for a new restaurant. My wife does though, so off we went to find La Dolce Vita.

Well... I'm happy to say that it was well worth the drive. These guys do Italian right!! From the warm ambience to the friendly service, to the amazing food, this joint gets high marks from me all the way around.

I orderd a lemon chicken dish which was the best I've ever had. The presention was fun and fresh without being over the top and the prices were quite resonable. The appetizers came quickly and were fantastic. Even the sorbet/white chocolate dessert was unique and delicious.

Minutes from Key Arena this place is a fantastic find. Great job guys!

  • Pros: Fantastic all the way around
  • Cons: Sure to get way too busy once people get wind of this place

What a Great Italian Restaurant!

by MrWendal

I love this place! It's hard to find phenomenal Italian food in Seattle, because...well...we're a long way from Italy! We stumbled upon La Dolce Vita for the first time, and I couldn't be happier with it. They have obviously payed a lot of attention to the details, from the decor to the dessert. I had a fantastic halibut dish, with some homemade pasta with the best marinara sauce I've ever had. The dinner was finished with a sorbet dessert that was out of this world. I highly recommend this place; Seattle is lucky to have them.

  • Pros: Authentic food perfectly seasoned, Service is amazing, Quality

Great Food and Vino

by junglefish

This is a hidden jewel of excellent Italian food on lower QA.

Take a date and they will enjoy it. It has been several months since I have been there, but reviewing it makes me want to go back!

  • Pros: Small and intimate
  • Cons: parking can sometimes be hard in the area, but it is far better than downtown
