wut a service
by AliceSun
We actually have been there several times, because of its cheap price. But the service was horrible. Also If u look into the water "carefully" u will find it more horrible!!.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: poor service
Affordable, fast, good quality

The title sums it up. I eat here regularly, and like many restaurants in the U District the atmosphere isn't the main attraction. But who cares when a couple can dine here for around $10! Fast service, good cuts of meat (especially for the price), and free cream puffs of course :) Highly recommended.
- Pros: Fast, cheap, great value
- Cons: None really, though it's not great for dates or kids.
Decent Pho
by kee22
I tried pho here for the first time with a friend who raved about it. The service was fast. I had beef pho..I thought that it was ok. I don't know if Im too much a pho person. However, I liked their cream puffs...they were really good.
- Pros: Good cream puffs
Pretty Good
by kammmmay
Ive eatten here a couple times and it has been alright, nothing special. I do see crouds of people in here during busy hours on the weekends. service is quick, but the meat they use is not very good. I dont recommend the meatball pho, but it was good overall. It also in kind of inconvenient that they dont take credit cards.
- Pros: quick, service
- Cons: meat, no credit cards
The best deal in town
by spudsocks
Ok, I LOVE Than Brothers. Sure, it's not the most authentic pho and you can get much better of the real stuff at 12th and Jackson, but this spot has four great things going for it: 1) Veggie pho, which I guess is a sacrilege to the real thing but it's oh-so-tasty and comes with tofu, good if you aren't feeling all meat-y, 2) in the neighborhoods, i.e. when I lived on Capitol Hill it was two blocks away, now it's on the Ave, on Aurora, in Ballard, everywhere! 3) You can get a complete meal for $4, and 4) FREE CREAM PUFFS with every order. Enough said.
- Pros: Very cheap, lightning-fast service, tasty meals
- Cons: Absolutely zero ambience, not "authentic"
Student Pho
by critic206
This Pho restaurant and all the others on the U Ave cater to hungry, poor students. The broth is watered down and they put a ton of cheap rice noodle with little meat. Good if your looking for quantity NOT quality. I am Vietnamese and this is bad Pho, but good if your planning spending the change you dug up around the dorm to fill your stomach.
Best Lunch in the U-District
by mcguffin
You go in, say the number and size of the pho you want, and in a minute you have a steaming delicious meal that makes you feel wonderful. I always get the number 9--3 kinds of "normal" meat without any of the native specialties. And to top it all off, a free delicious creampuff!
Pho and cream puffs reign supreme at this affordable U-District Vietnamese chain.

In Short
Red lanterns decorate the sparse interior of this casual, booth-lined pho emporium, where students and businessmen mingle to devour steaming bowls of the fragrant noodle soup. The menu is straightforward: 17 different types of pho, including meatball, eye-round steak, brisket, tripe and veggie, in four sizes. Each order arrives almost immediately, accompanied by fresh herbs and one of the restaurant's signature cream puffs, made in-house from a secret family recipe.
