3 points about VIOS: 1) authenic greek food : not greek at all, unfortunately. However, the food is tasty! 2) price: very pricy and ... portions are very small. 3) the only reason why I go there is the play corner. I put my kid there and I enjoy the desert (they are good ... and expensive too)

There were 6 of us (all young professionals) out to dinner at Vios around 8pm last night. By that time the kids have cleared and the restaurant is a perfect place for a casual delicious meal. The beginning of the meal included the olives which had in the past changed a friend of mine from an olive hater to an olive lover, enough said. The trio of hummus, baba ghanoush, and tzatziki was fabulous and resembled the best I have had in Detroit (where a you can find greek food flows like the coffee does in Seattle). The roasted beet salad covered perfectly with flavorful olive oil and tossed with Kasseri (greek hard cheese) was perfect and compared to no other beet salad i've had. If you like beets, this is your dream come true. Our main courses were close to perfect. The lamb was "as tender as it can get" and accompanied by a cold bean salad. Perfect for spring! The spinach rice dish was good for what it was and a generous portion but ,not my style. Finally, dessert ! It reminded me of my time in Europe. Tiny dishes of delicious gellato accompanied by a shot of illy espresso. Although I didn't try it, the bread pudding was igorgeous and again a generous portion. It was nhaled quickly as the olive oil cake was passed amongst us proving to be as moist and delicious as it looked. In all our experience was delightful and although it is a bit pricey, you pay for what you get. Fabulous ambiance, a kind staff, suiting wine, authentic food, and memories.

Pros: Delicious Food

Cons: If you don't like kids at a restaurant eat here after 8PM

We lingered longer over our meal at Vios than we had in the two years since we had our son! The food was quite good, with the winners being the celery and pork dish and almond custard dessert. The chicken skewers were quite salty and the flank steak special was so-so, but the prices were the saltiest part. We came in at about $160 for four adults with only one glass of wine on the tab. (We did have salads, desserts and apps, but one person didn't have an entree.) The staff were very busy but offered to fill a sippy cup and rinse off a pacifier -- unheard of anywhere. We thought the "kiddie chaos" was confined to the play area and not an issue in the rest of the restaurant. We will go back but, because of the prices, probably only on a special night when we can't get a sitter.

Pros: Grown-up food in a kid-friendly environment

Cons: Quite expensive - Don't like kids? Probably not your cup of tea.

I heard much hype about this restaurant. Great reviews in Seattle magazine, yada, yada, so I was excited to try it. We went on a Saturday night around 7:30 pm. To our suprise, the place was filled with young children running all over the place and their yuppie parents not paying much attention to them. Warning: If you do not want to listen to screaming children, sit in the front of the restaurant or get your order to go! Service was OK, communal tables are OK, food was very good, small portions and highly overpriced. The bill for 2 of us was $45, I had water my husband a beer. This is a great place to eat if you have children. I'm sure there are very few restaurants catering to families like Vios.

Pros: Kid-friendly, good food

Cons: Kid-friendly, expensive, not a great place for a quiet date by any means

If you're looking for the typical greasy gyro joint, with a surly mustachioed guy behind the counter, then this is not the place for you. The warm pitas are better than any Greek place I've ever eaten. They use fine European cheeses, good olive oil, organic produce, and fresh local seafood. The portions are relatively small, but the quality of the ingredients make them satisfying. The Illy coffee is addictive and the gelato deserves mention.

Having lived in Greece for many years, I was told by a friend to check out the Greek foods at Vios.....I did not question and therefore knew nothing of the "offerings". When I walked in the environment made me smile, I could tell that the place had a certain sense of taste and style yet very comfortable and relaxed, definately not a white table cloth around and yet after having had my meal which to every point was very tasty and all of the ingredients were fresh and definately Greek in a true sense, my friends joining me also enjoyed the daily mezes wines served etc. finally a truely good and refreshing Greek salad....its in the details. Vios is a rare place that has its own character and it shines, if you can appreciate these qualities, you will love it!

I love greek food and there isn't much in the seattle area. so when i was told by a friend to check out this place, I was pretty excited because i'm new to the seattle area. But when I got there i was totally disappointed. The price was way too high for what they had to offer, plus service wasn't so great. I'm used to paying for authenic greek food and there food was not authenic at all especially for the price. I'm gave my friend lots of heat for playing such a crude joke on me, so he made it up by taking me to a great greek restautant located in the bellevue area.

I came here with my boyfriend as a birthday lunch since he's Greek and we were both totally disappointed with our meal. First, the tables are communal and you've got to grab a seat and order at the counter, so it was just a bad choice for a romantic meal, which was our fault. It was also filled with toddlers and other screaming children as it was a weekday. Then we ordered our food, and it's pricy--the gyro's about $7--and much smaller than what I'm used to getting from those stands on the Ave and elsewhere. He got a traditional Greek dish and said it was average, but nothing to be excited about, especially not for $8. My gryo was also just okay. I won't be returning, and still on a quest for good Greek food in town!

Pros: Nice marketplace, affordable wine-by-the-glass

Cons: Nothing else is affordable, food very average and not authentic

I had an incredibly unpleasant, yet expensive evening at this restaurant. The food was great, but I have never, EVER received such insolent, rude, entitled behavior from servers (and I was a waiter for many years-- in NEW YORK CITY!)

Pros: Very good food

Cons: Servers with (negative) attitude

The food at Vios is simple and delicious. I took my two-year old with a group of other parents at 5:30 pm and there were a number of families also enjoying dinner. There is a play area for the children (gated no less) that's quite large and has myriad toys. The bathrooms, too, are kid-friendly with stepstools provided for little kids to wash their hands. Nice vibe, really good food. My daughter ate spaghetti and meatballs that was just the right size for her and included a "tree" of broccoli. I'm already looking forward to returning.
