Best Bread in Town

Columbia City Bakery makes the best bread in Seattle. I know this because my French husband is very particular about his bread. We buy our bread from this delightful little bakery several times each week. We love the Pain de Campagne (country-style) and the traditional Baguette. The croissants are also very good. Pain au chocolat is so-so, they use German chocolate, which just makes a traditional French pastry less French.

Overall, this is Seattle's best destination for bread. Buy for daily consumption and special occasions you, your guests and most importantly your mouths will be very impressed!

• Pros: easy parking, kid friendly, plenty of seating
• Cons: they sometimes run out of bread - call ahead

Colors abound at this friendly neighborhood gathering place, where the espresso machine is always in motion, the staff is friendly and the smell of baking bread fills the air. Hearty breads, like a much beloved walnut loaf and Parisian baguette, are the reason people trek here from all over the city, but danishes, cookies, croissants and more treats are also highly praised and made with seasonal fruit.
