I run a small construction company in Seattle and chose to send a client to Seattle Door and Window for convenience. They were given a good price, but I had to really babysit the sales-person, because he had no clue about his product line. The order filled behind schedule, and assembled wrong. I had to take several hours out of my workday to try to remedy the situation, driving the product back for an exchange. One of the doors was damaged--by me--in the interim, and after dropping off the incorrect order at their location, I was called and told to come pick up my (stuff). It was without question the rudest I've ever been treated by anyone in any sales profession. Looking to accept some culpability for bringing back the damaged item, I asked the owner/manager something to the effect of, "Yes I scratched the door, the wrong door, spending my time and effort to correct your mistake, how 'bout we split it?" I was told I'd have to pay full retail for another to exchange and wait over a week to have it hung, when earlier that day the salesman who helped me unload the damaged door said the replacement order would be ready in a day. I walked out with my incorrect, damaged doors, drove north to their competitor, and was treated to prompt and gracious customer service, for about a 15% premium. I will never shop Seattle Door and Window again. I will warn all of my customers and fellow tradespeople away from them. Windows and doors are a one time thing for most homeowners and the low up-front price is tempting, but its been my experience that Seattle Door and Window will cost you more in time and frustration than they could ever save in dollars.

Pros: Low up-front cost

Cons: Worst customer service I've ever had

I was a little concerned about the some of the reviews this company had on Citysearch, but when looking at all reviews of different companies I realized that people like to write negative views, but not good experiences. I went to 4 local comapnies and then Lowe's and Home Depot to shop for an entry door and windows. Seattle Door was by far the most knowledgeable and had best selection. Ben the salesperson was great. They came out to inspect my house and then sent me a quote. For the windows, front door, and installation they were well below Depots price and about 15% below other companies. Overall it took me 3 weeks to get bids I needed and I went with Seattle Door. From the time I paid for order it took them 18 days to get product and show up at my house. Three days later and we are very satisfied with the service. We are now going to shop around to replace our interior doors!! Happy shopping.

Pros: great selection, best prices

As a home owner, you tend to get a bit worried that you can get a good deal where contractors purchase from. At Seattle Door and Window they did not care that I was not a contractor, and educated me on all the doors for my new home. They gave me contractor rates due to the ammount of doors I purchased and directed me to a quality stain shop who finished my new doors. I did not know the purpose of fiberglass doors and found out that in two locations of my home, I actually needed to use them due to weather conditions and they were less expensive than the wood door which was the same style. Now getting the sizing was a challenge and I opted to have SD&W come out and measure (at a fee) but that did put the measurements on them and just one item i did not need to worry about was getting the measurements correct. The day the doors arrived to SD&W from the factory, they called to let me know that my doors were here and ready for the stain shop but that one door arrived slightly damaged. They said that they would rush the replacement door order and already made arangements with the stain shop to rush the stain on the last door so that they could all be completed within a few days of each other. That was great, i know that other places would have just tried to send out a bad door but they chose the correct route and contacted me letting me know the situation with one door being late. I really appreciated that. Seattle Door and Window has many great reviews and a few bad ones, I asked them about those and got a good understanding that some people just don't want to pay for a true measurment or think they can do it themself, then when it is the wrong size on a custom door order, they expect to get their money back when the home owner supplied the measure. If you are not comfortable measuring your doors or windows pay the fee, i think it is around $50. and have some peace of mind knowing it will be right or corrected by Seattle Door and Window Thank you all -

Pros: PRICE, Parking, PRICE!!!!!

Cons: only open 7 days a week

My front doors that I purchased are perfect. The neighbors are so jealous of me. They are mahogany with glass and 20% less than anything comparable in the area. It is my second house door because I also used them two years ago in my previous home. The installation crew was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. The sales staff walked me through many different options to help me decide on my best options. I will go with them for all my door work. In fact I will be there again soon as I need my french door replaced off of my master bedroom. Thank you Seattle Door and Window and I'll be seeing you soon! I was very surprised to see any negative comments on this website. I think those people may have actually gone to a different Door Store as Seattle Door and Window is by far the most experienced and honest group I have worked with in my 40 years experience in the construction business.

Pros: Service, Quality, Knowledge

Cons: N/A

I had a significantly less that stellar experience with these guys. We went to the showroom, saw some nice 9-lite french doors, ordered it and then when the door arrived it just didn't look like the door in the showroom. The problem is that the showroom door was a 36" model and we ordered the 30" model. Where do you think they take that 6" out? Is it distributed evenly across the lites? Nope. They just make the center lites 6" narrower. This COMPLETELY changes the aesthetic of the door. Had we known about this we would have ordered single lite doors. Nobody told us this bit of necessary info in advance. We offered to exchange for equivalent (and less expensive) single-lite doors at a loss. We offered to pay an additional restocking fee. No deal. They made their sale and now they are not the least bit interested in the follow-up. For a 4-digit item you'd think there'd be some concern there wouldn't you? So beware - what you see is not necessarily what you get. And when that happens, you're screwed.

Upon installation and finishing we have found other issues. On the two casement doors, all of the hinges on the door casing were stripped! Edge of the doors had severe joiner marks that had to be planed out. The 3 panel "Stain grade" door had two panels that were similar and the third panel was so far off it looked like a different species of wood (used Benite, etc.). IN addition this so called stain grade door had a patch that looked like a joiner biscuit...very odd. I am not a competitor as the 5 star raters claim, but a bona fide consumer who expects better service out of a shop that supposedly specializes in doors. Really leaves a bad taste in your mouth when careless accusations are thrown out..... Hate to see what the builders listed below are installing in thier clients homes....

Pros: Parking, although pickup is another issue

Cons: see review!

I have visited and ordered doors and/or hadware eight (8) different times, and I have never experienced a transaction that has been correct. When doors have been manufactured incorrectly or damaged, I have been put back on the manufacturers list for my order, which means on the 'end' of the list. SD&W never stands up to the distributer to correct the situation and correct the problem. I have even received doors on the job in which they have had holes in them. Do not waste your time, or your clients time and money.

Pros: A large variety of doors in showroom

Many of you know me, Mike Taylor Gen. Contractor- Seattle Door and Window has a previous review from me and I pasted it below, I am putting out this review to fully insure any of you reading this that Seattle Door and Window has been the best Supplier of Doors , Windows, and molding that I Have found in the greater seattle area. They beat everyone in price for the same exact product thanks to Jon, who was a GC before teaming up with his partners to open an affordable and fair retail/wholesale store in the SODO District. Jon did not ask me to write this, but I heard about a couple of FAKE BAD REVEIWS By COMPETITORS which he feels has hurt his buisiness. The facts are that competition hates his fair and honest sales staff and thier lower price margins. These guys base their profit margins on volume, NOT indepedent price gouging like.....well, you know who I am talking about. Go to the store and think about why they have so many display doors, more than anyone I have ever seen, and ask them Why there prices are so low for the same doors and windows you see down the street. Ask for JON and he will tell you it is all based on volume shopping year end earnings without a concern for dailhy sales. Mike Taylor, GC Custom Homes Only I have been a builder for 20+ years and these are the only door and window guys i have yet to meet that actually know what they are doing. I have used several of the small door shops and tried the big box stores as well. Seattle Door and Window seems to be the only place around where i can get exactly the doors i am looking for in a timely manner and at such low prices. They keep many doors in stock and have a Pre-Hang machine on site to machine a door with a frame to get me same day service when i am in a hurry. You guys make my job so easy when i am in a bind to get a door that fits quickly and not jacking the price on me like my previous suppliers. Thanks guys, you will always get buisness and good word of mouth.--Mike Taylor

Pros: Parking, Fast, LOW PRICES

Cons: none

I've had nothing but the best experience with Seattle Door and WIndow. The whole time I was there, I felt that the employees really listened closely to what it was I wanted, worked with me, and gave me great advice. Excellent customer service! Unlike other pushy salesmen I've dealt with in the past, they did not try to sell me anything that I didn't want. Instead, they came up with better and cost efficient ways of finishing my projects which really came in handy for me since I was on a tight budget. I thought it would cost me an arm and a leg, but they quoted me much lower than what I expected. When I walked into the showroom, they had the largest selection that I had ever seen and the quality of the doors was great. There were even some customized ones that I've never seen before like the coffee bean door. With such a wide variety it was hard for me to choose. I was assured that my doors were under warranty. In fact, when my door arrived at the store for pick up with a minor but noticeable dent on it I received a call from Seattle Door and Window saying that they were not going to accept it from the supplier because of the flaw and wanted to check in with me on my remodling timeline and whether or not I was OK with it. They paid close attention to the quality of the products and stand by what they sell. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. From what I've seen these guys were reliable, and really followed through, going above and beyond what I expected. I would definitely go back for my future projects and would recommend them to everyone I know. Also another tip, I shopped around at other places but they did not offer prehang service for the doors I needed. What's nice about Seattle Door and WIndow is that they have a prehang shop on site which saved me another step. All in all, I saved a lot of time and money by working with them. Thank you Seattle Door and WIndow for making my projects a lot easier than I thought was possible!

Pros: Parking
