Horrible Manager

by jarea_meh17

The manager, is actually the owner. Her name is Juliana and she is going out of business in a few days. Hmm, I wonder why??? Maybe it's because of her crappy attitude. She made assumptions about my family and then would not listen to what our preferences were. Instead she MADE us try other dishes. There is no doubt in my mind the owner/landlord of the building wanted her OUT! If you want good Chinese food without the attitude or hassle of the manager go to Sea Garden, Yea's Wok, or Top Gun (in Factoria).

Great ambience and delicious food

by Babash

We tried it once and we got hooked. It?s one of the rare places that have good ambience and fine authentic Chinese food under one roof. My Wife is Chinese and we?ve been to almost every Chinese place in town. Sentosa is our favorite. They use fine ingredient and NO MSG. You don?t get the heavy feeling that you get after eating greasy Chinese food in some other restaurants. I highly recommend this place.

Like most other Chinese restaurant, the English menu is only a small selection of what they offer. If you want to try some real good stuff, you can ask for the Chinese menu. If you don?t know how to read Chinese, ask for recommendations.

The staff is friendly and quite often we get complimentary desert. The free stuff started after a few visits.

Rude Restaurant Manager

by pengyou99

I was just humiliated by the manager of the restaurant and decided to give comment here. I am not surprised by seeing some bad comments already! The manager reminded me Chinese Culture Revolution? in late 60?s to 70?s. It is very hard to find a competitive attitude with her even in China now. She should be fired from the job!

She was very pushy selling her dim sums on a Saturday lunch setting while it was 80% empty. My husband and I ordered a few dishes of dim sum, and since my husband was a little slow picking up the food by chopsticks, she reached out grabbed his chopsticks, picked up a slippery dumpling thing into his dish and then another one to me, without our request, which stunned my hubby. When I questioned the dim sum price reading my bill, instead of getting me a menu price list she scoffed at me ? ?if you don?t have money don?t come here to eat!? and after I paid she also yelled ?Get out of the door!? Even when I was living in China in my earlier years I never got treated like this.

She definitely ruined our day. And I will never go back to the restaurant again, like some other reviewers have said. She is NOT professional AT ALL and she is not qualified for any kind of job, anywhere.

Ok food worst sevice

by aditee_k

we went there yesterday night. The food was ok... but the service was terrible. I first asked her about a specific tofu dish on her menu... instead of replying what it was the manager recommended I try another tofu dish. She also made us try another dish in their restaurant with tall claims that it was really good. The food took a really long time and the tofu dish she had recommended was horrible. when I complained about it, she just said that its my fault I dont like it as everyone else likes it and its her favourite dish on the menu...she even refused to take it off (charge less) for it. I had eaten just one bite from it as it tasted so pathetic. The rest of the dishes were strictly OK. So if you are in a mood to be treated badly visit sentosa.... else run far far from it. Its really a pity that they have such a prime location in kirkland with nice decors... but the attitude of the people spoils it all!

WORST Place EVER!

by bebe0202

This is the worst restaurant that I have ever been too! And I will NEVER go back again!!! We went there the other night, the environment looks good. However, after we sat down, and began to order food, the manager's attitude was NOT tolerable. Forget about the service, esp. you have Asian face. We felt we were treated as second class citizen. We tried to order a dish, however they were out of it, then of course we needed to rethink about it, then the manager responded very impatiently, which seemed to be our fault!!!

After that, it took more than 30 minutes for the food to be served. The quality was horrible!!! They were barely luke warm! We tried to ask why they were not hot enough, the manager even yelled at us!!! I have never been treated like this! and I will DEFINITELY NEVER go back to this place again! NEVER!!!

  • Pros: The environment is ok
  • Cons: Food is horrible, service is slow, attitude is terrible!!!

Good Dim Sum, Pleasent service.

by rhalverson

Initially I was reluctant to try out this restaurant based on the previous reviews; however, I was desperate to find a good Dim Sum restaurant closer to my work then downtown Seattle. In the past few weeks I have ate lunch at Sentosa Asian Cuisine & Bakery twice and I was pleasantly surprised on both occasions. The staff and host were pleasant and responsive and the food was good. While the selections are limited compared to the larger Seattle restaurants most of the favorites are present along with a few surprises. I did miss the sticky fired rice, but they do offer an excellent lotus leaf sticky rice dish offered in a two portion bundles. The restaurant is clean and surprisingly large and spacious. I would recommend Sentosa Asian Cuisine & Bakery if you are looking for good Dim Sum in the Kirkland area.

Horrible service! Unimaginative food!

by a_mama

We were a party of 9 (2 kids) ordered 7 dishes and when I expressed concerns about my sons allergies to nuts in the food, the hostess the nerve to scoff at me! She talked down to me and my son stating that they have no nuts in their food when it clearly stated on the menu that several dishes did indeed contain nuts. Later when I asked once again if she could insure the noodles I ordered for him were just boiled noodles, she looked at me in a very irritated manner and said the order had been placed and could not be changed but if I wanted to I could order something else! If I didn't have my kids with me I would have told her exactly what I thought of her, her service and her food! Lucky for me, I own a computer and can share my experience about this panda express with a table cloth!

A great alternative to going across the bridge for Excellent Asian food!

by katiecat18

We decided to try Sentosa after having passed by it many times on my way to work in Kirkland. We were very happy we did! We had an excellent, very fresh dinner= A delicious beef noodle dish with a lot of flavor, baby bok choy that was seasoned perfectly (not overly salty, as I have had in other restaurants), and an outstanding mango scallops dish that was on the specials menu for the evening. We left with full bellies, but not with that heavy, greasy feel that you often have after feasting on some Asian food. Waitstaff was attentive, but not at all intrusive. The owner was also very friendly. We will most definitely return to try their dim sum!

  • Pros: Super fresh, delicious, and great service.
  • Cons: None

Overlooked Asian Jewel at Kirkland Waterfront

by eastsidefoodie

My family, friends, and I just love Sentosa, and eat there frequently. I was surprised another reviewer thought it wasn't romantic. The restaurant is very large, but the colors are subdued, lighting soft, background music quiet and serene, tables topped with white linen, etc. We often ask for a window table and watch passersby as we dine. Favorite dishes include all the prawn dishes, Dry Fried Spring Beans (spicy green beans), and Singapore Chicken (tender slices of white meat chicken with fresh tropical fruits in a light sauce), which is my mother's favorite, and we have it EVERY time! Check with the owner for her recommendation on any specials, as they are often not on the menu, but typically delicious. If you have special requests, she can often come up with something wonderful just for you. Dishes all tend to be fresh and light, not greasy and heavy. I always leave feeling full, but not weighed-down. Parking is better weeknights, not weekends. We often eat on Monday or Tuesday nights, and about half the time park on the street in front of the door.

  • Pros: Knowledgable owner, unusual options, fresh flavors, elegant relaxing ambience

Very good dim sum and other dishes and attentive wait staff

by jkcddd

We have been there for dim sum and weeknight suppers. Very good dim sum, and many dishes such as the honey-walnut prawns are always excellent, attentive but not intrusive wait staff. We had a different style bun-type pancake for Peking Duck and this dish was very flavorful with crispy skin and succulent meat. I would pass on the pastries, as they look nice but are tasteless. Go for the food, not the pastries.

  • Pros: Dim sum, mostly any dish on the menu, wait staff and hostess
  • Cons: Parking is always an issue in downtown Kirkland, tasteless pastries
