Best Lunch In Ballard!!!

by RainingCrows

What a wonderful change from the same old boring sandwich shop! The decor is beautiful with light cheery colors contrasted by exposed brick throughout the space, theres even a chandelier in the bathroom!. The food was fresh and delicious, I had the "Mile-High" turkey club with a cup of creamy potato soup. The hot "panini style" sandwich was very welcome on a cold day and the soup was seasoned perfectly. In addition to a full menu of sandwiches, salads, and drinks they have all kinds of specialty foods, including jams, preserves, seasoning salts and cheeses. A must-try for anyone in Seattle!!

  • Pros: service, parking, food, decor

Large glass of milk please!

by ambriaaa

My hubby and I were walking around Ballard today and decided to stop in to Dish d'Lish for lunch. We're usually in the neighborhood at night -- enjoying some of the wine, pizza and music -- and hadn't had the chance to explore the daytime offerings. We were sadly disappointed. The menu looked fabulous, but the bread on both of our sandwiches was very, very dry. Even the healthy dose of wet toppings didn't help. Maybe this was because they had been closed for the holiday weekend and hadn't replenished supplies, but I expected a little more attention to detail. My husband also said his chicken salad was fairly skimpy.

I think next time our $7 will be better spent at Other Coast :(

  • Pros: Nice place, outdoor seating
  • Cons: Stale bread, value for the money

Great sandwiches

by ballardmama01

We just moved into condos in ballard and love that we have Dish D'Lish close by as I've only tried it at the airport. After shopping at the sunday market I enjoy stopping in Dish D'lish for a Tuna Melt that is to die for! I've also tried their salads, some better than others, but always tasty and reheat nicely at home.

  • Pros: Great location, friendly service
  • Cons: not open on Mondays

Fun lunch spot and tasty take out

by ballarddining

I enjoy stopping by dish dlish after going to the farmers market. The sandwiches are great. I love the vegetarian sandwich---I think it was called a treehugger? There are some fun retail items too and the take out case is a good option for a quick dinner. It's a little on the expensive side but the food is good quality. The staff is friendly and the decor is pretty.

My new favorite cafe!

by brandilinn

I have been waiting for Dish D'Lish to open! You get hooked right when you walk in the front door. It looks beautiful and there are so many goodies to grab before you even get to the counter. I love all the salads and take home items in the front case and the mirror door is a fun way to showcase the specials. Someone had mentioned that the case was to bland looking...I disagree! I love the white bowls which hightlight all of the colors of the different salads and such - it looks crisp and clean! My 2 favorite meals are "Kathy's D'Lish Favorite" with chicken breast, apple chutney and brie - what a fantastic combination of flavors and the Salad Sampler - the chefs choice of 3 salads out of the case! On the other side of the cashier is a great case full of homemade pickles, zingy cucumber salad, cheeses and lots more. It's also a great place to stock up on for parties! I've been desperate for a fresh new place to eat lunch....and now I have it!

  • Pros: Parking in the back parking lot of the cafe!!

SUPER YUMMY!

by ballardmadame

As a restaurant owner, I don't usually like to write good, bad, or otherwise...reviews.But I am making an exception. This little place is a great addition to Ballard. Although, I'm not usually a fan of modern in Old Ballard, I actually really like the design of the place. I'm so glad they kept the brick wall and the light fixtures are modern with a hint of nostalgia. But, alas, it is the food the really shines. Today, I had the taragon chicken and it was yummy. I absolutely love the granola yogurt with wild berries. WOW!!!!! I'm a little amazed that the prices are affordable. So many chefs these days know they can get you with their name, but I really think they tried to keep it affordable. I've been to Dish d'lish at the market a few times, so I knew this place would be great! And.....it is! For some reason, when I finished this, citysearch called this an "average rating" I want it to clear that I highly recommend this place!

Working out the kinks

by rmshur

The decor is crisp and clean with nice details such as bench seating and large black and white photos. The case with to go food was not appealing as it was very white. White dishes with bland looking food. We had the salad sampler which was fresh and made for a nice light lunch. Kathy's Favorite Sandwich with Chicken, Brie and Chutney was very bland. There either was not enough chutney or it needed a spread of some sort but it was definitely lacking flavor. The person behind the cash register had difficulty ringing up our order. Pricing is quite expensive for deli food. I will try again in a few months once they've worked out the kinks.

Just what we needed!

by ashleiz1

This cafe is awesome! I love that I can get fancy food that is good for you and still filling and tasty. "Kathy Casey's Favorite" sandwich with brie, apple chutney, and chicken on focaccia is great and next time I will have yet, another hard time choosing. They also have a cold case with entrees and sides that you can take home to eat later. They are at a great location on Ballard Ave., so that I can walk and get a coffee in the mid afternoon, buy a meal or snack to eat, or buy to bring home. They have cheeses, dips, and Italian imports too. Great gift ideas! This is stuff that I would love to get, but it would also be great for my mom!

  • Pros: Great atmosphere compliments great food, music, and crowd

Bright and airy, Kathy Casey's flagship cafe offers Ballard residents a one-stop shop for tempting lunches and gourmet goodies.

by Anna Roth

In Short
Fitting in well with its Ballard surroundings, an exposed brick wall contrasts warmly with the ice blue theme of the rest of this friendly neighborhood spot. Patrons order hot and cold gourmet sandwiches, tossed salads and baked goodies at the counter, or can take home cold case items like marinated mushrooms or mac and cheese. A sunny front corner displays Dish D'Lish chutneys, spreads and cocktail mixers along with a range of other gourmet products.

Best Lunch in Ballard!

by michelleq1

The new Dish Dlish on Ballard Avenue is fabulous! The display cases are beautiful, the decor is stunning and the food is delicious. There are a wide variety of items to choose from---several fun salads and sandwiches, a soup of the day, a nice selection of heavier items like meatloaf, strata, enchilada bake, etc. and some really sinful sweets The packaging is absolutely gorgeous. My tuna melt came in a silver and tiffany blue foil type bag which kept it nice & toasty. Not only was it beautifully presented but it was the best tuna sandwich I've ever eaten. I don't know how they can make something so simple taste so delicious but I highly recommend it. Also, be sure to try he chocolate macaroon brownie. Dish Dlish is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.
