As I wrote in a recent blog about hair, "I get my hair cut at the Gilt-Edged Society by Glenn, and he’s actually quite reasonable for 2008 in the over-priced metropolis of Seattle, Washington. He’s also a genius with hair. He’s every bit as exacting as I am with my writing, only he uses shears and scissors to create art. And he’s truthful; Glenn will never give you bad advice on hair, not just because he cares about clients, but because he’s the most hair-ethical stylist I’ve ever met." So if you need a new cut or color, try Glenn at the Gilt Edge Society: I truly believe he is the best stylist I have ever had!

This is my first review, but I felt compelled to write.I had not had my hair cut in over a year. I could never be bothered to find a stylist after moving across country (I live in Dallas, TX). I planned a visit to Seattle to visit my brother, and he insisted he get me an appointment with Stephen. Am I glad I agreed. Stephen took the time to listen to what I wanted (not too short, easy to maintain) and was ok that I didn't have any specific ideas for a style. He was able to see what I couldn't, namely, the type of cut I needed. He did a great job. I am very pleased with my cut. I could not be happier. The entire experience was stress free. The only problem? I now have a stylist 2200 miles away from my home. Stephen also cuts my brother and sister-in-law's hair, so I can honestly say he seems to do a great job with both men and women's hair. He is also very friendly and personable. Highly recommended.

The first step into the Gilt Edge and I was sold. There is always a featured artist on the walls, great music playing and splendid vibes flowing throughout. The Gilt Edge also features wonderful smelling, top-notch hair care products. Steve has a knack for formulating the perfect color, always taking the time to match your new color with your features perfectly, he knows my hair so well from the first time ever having him color my hair until now ( 2 years of stellar service ) that it goes smoothly and always looks amazing. Awesome cut/styling as well; he is a hair genius! My hair always grows out gracefully and is so fun to style. Also my hair has become soooo much healthier since going to see Steve! His guidelines, products and expertise are always on point. I have also had extensions done by Glenn, he did an amazing job! I would recommend if you have plans on getting extensions—look no further! He’s the best extension guy in Seattle !

Pros: free parking, awesome products, one-of-a-kind place!

I am so excited about my new haircut and color!! Holly really took time to find the right colors for me with the color chart. She took time with me to find out what the right cut would be for my needs. I've never had a cut this cool before! I felt like a movie star leaving the salon! Holly is so cute and fun to talk to, she does what she was meant to do..hair!

Pros: really cool salon with art on the walls and good music

Cons: nothing whatsoever!!

I've never gotten the perfect haircut until now. I left the salon feeling so great about a my new haircut. Holly was amazing! Thanks Holly!!

I see Glenn for my haircuts and I love the way he's so meticulous. His haircuts are precise and grow out so well, which is the sign of a great and professional cut. I liked the way he took my face shape into consideration the first time we met, too. I never had that done. He's confident and experienced and it shows in his work. He also has some great ideas about color and hair extensions. Overall, the Gilt Edge Society is a fun salon to visit. It's casual and without attitude. They offer free parking, too.

This place blew me away. I have 14 years experience in the salon industry, I spent 2006 traveling the United States researching salons and spas, and I've had my hair cut by the best of the best when it comes to stylists - so being new to Seattle and not knowing anyone in the industry made the thought of getting my haircut a little scary. In fact, I had planned to travel the 3000 miles back to the east coast to do so until I stumbled upon The Gilt Edge Society. Instantly intrigued by their dedication to the arts, I established contact with Glen & Stephen and was so impressed by their sincerity and kindness that I knew I had to have my hair cut there. I scheduled my first appointment for a cut with Glen. I am probably as picky as they come - I know what I want, I know cutting basics and I am a stickler for customer service and professionalism. My entire service exceeded my expectations. Glen has a straight forward approach and told me what needed to happen to my hair in order for it to work best with my facial structure. Upon my approval, he gave me by far the greatest haircut I have ever had - which, oddly enough was about $400 less than my previous east coast cut. I returned for color a few weeks later and established just a few guidelines for what I was looking for but at this point felt comfortable enough with him that I knew he would do what was best. This was huge for me as I usually formulate my own color and then tell the stylist how and where to put it on my head. The results were great and I have received numerous compliments. During both services Glen took the time to explain what he was doing and why, and in a non-salesmen like manner explained the products he was using on my hair and how I could create the same effects at home. I was overly impressed with the service I received and would encourage anyone interested in getting a great hair at an overly fair price to go to The Gilt Edge.

Pros: Everything = Professionalism, Skill, Experience, Friendliness, Art, Service, Value

I have been seeing Stephen for years and his space is incredible! I am so happy for him and look forward to his continued growth! Yeah Stephen!

Pros: Stephen, fun atmosphere

Cons: a little hard to get an appointment, but i guess you have to wait for greatness

I LOVE MY HAIR NOW! At the Gilt Edge Society, Glen one of the owners, gave me the best hair style I have ever had in my twenty five years! He took the time to try to know me and intuitively gave me hair that I always wanted! I love the ever changing art displayed at the studio and the kick back, no problems attitude. I have never been so excited not only about my hair, the cut the color, everything, but also about a place of business. The treatment is rocking and I look forward to the monthly art shows that have hosted some very talented artists.

Ever since I stopped going to Gene Juarez about 3 years ago Ive been looking for a new hair-stylist but have been generally dissappointed with every one that I've tried...that is until I found Glen- owner of the Gilt Edge. I was very impressed with his skill and knowledge and I knew right away I was in the hands of a master. He explained to me why my current haircut wasn't working for me and how to keep my hair looking more healthy. I think I left with the best haircut I have ever had and am excited to go back!! I am recommending this salon to all my friends.
