Taste of Pikes Place
Awesome Tour!!! I went New Years Eve and it was a great time!!! Go on this tour it is wonderful. Our guide was very informative and friendly. I would recommend this tour for locals and tourists alike!
New meeting location and advanced reservations are necessary!
FYI - The meeting location for the tour has CHANGED, it now meets near the corner of 1st Ave. & Pike St (exact location provided at time of reservation). Advance reservations are required! Please visit: www.SavorSeattleTours. com. Also, additional tour times are usually available from 1:00 - 3:00pm on weekends. We look forward to meeting you!
Delicious and so much fun! But know before you go...
The meeting location is actually at Seattle Coffee Works--911 Pike Street. And reservations ARE necessary beforehand! You can purchase tickets ($39) at: www.SavorSeattleTours. com or by calling Brown Paper Tickets at 1.800.838.3006. This was an incredibly fun tour. I can't even believe that we ate at 11 different places! Time flew. Our guide obviously had a good rapport with all the market vendors, which is actually what makes the entire experience feel so un-tour like. I felt like I was part of the quirky market family for 2 hours, right down to even meeting the resident "sanitation expert" Chad. We each got ear pieces, which came in handy because I never had to strain to hear the guide and didn't have to worry about standing right next to her in order to hear. All tours should have these!! I walked away full, with memories of smoked salmon, coconut cream pie, and wine. It was the best $39.00 I spent my entire trip in Seattle!
The Highlight of our Seattle Trip!
This tour was fantastic! Owner and tour guide, Angela Shen, knows everything (not to mention everybody), and she shares her knowledge with warmth and humor. As out-of-towners, we wanted to soak up as much knowledge and culture as we could, and Angela's tour could not have been a better choice. The wireless sound system she uses is unique and wonderful--no matter how loud the market, you don't miss a single precious word. And the tastings--all I can say is Yum! Yum! If you do nothing else in the city, take the Savor Seattle tour--it's a true DON'T MISS IT!
Fabu Tour even for locals
So Me and my husband went out on this tour. We are from the area and have been to the market numorus times. We absolutly loved doing this tour. It's starts a little early but when you get greated with fresh donuts from the most wondeful donut place it makes it all worth the while. The tour guide is very educated about the market and knows all the vendors so well it makes you feel really comfortable. We learned things about the market that we didn't know and can't wait till they start the other tours so we can possibly go on them as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves the market, loves food, or just loves knowledge. Try it out you'll like it.
fun, interesting and delicious
We agree with the other reviews -- the tour was a treat for local and guests alike. Add this one to your "must do" list.
an insiders glimpse (and taste)into the pike place market
If you have 2-3 hours, I'd reccomend trying Savor Seattle's Pike Place Market tour. You get to meet a handul of vendors, find out increible details of their business' history along with the history of the Market itself. Sampling the vendors products is part of the tour, and a delcious one at that, but the real depth and soul of the tour comes from the in-depth knowledge and obvious fondness for the food and history of the Market that owner and tour guide Angela Shen shows throughout the tour. Her warmth and playful banter with the merchants is refreshing and upbeat. Shen's choice of vendors (a doughnut manufacturer, a honey producer, a dried cherry purveyor, a vegetable vendor, a spice store, a wine cooperative, a cheese maker, a restaurant with coconut cream pie, and a fish monger) was wonderfully varied and interesting - we truly felt as though we were seeing the Market through new eyes. Tourists as well as locals (such as ourselves) will enjoy this tour a great deal as well as apprcaiet the care and style with which the tour is delivered. The headsets tour attendees wear also are a great addition and make hearing the stories and anecdotes easy even with the loug ambient noise in and around the market. We hope there will be other tours by Savor Seattle as we will try them out!
Eat Your Heart Out - Seattle Food Tour
I recently took the Savor Seattle Tour and found a handful of things to learn about the market, seattle, and foods that will now be in my daily routine. I've lived in the city for 14 years and never been on a "tour" of any sort, but had guests in town and found this to be the perfect solutions to see some sights and taste some great foods. The tour was plentiful of interesting facts of the market, the inhabitors of the market, and just quite fun. I don't want to give away too much as it's a tasty surprise explosion every bite of the way. The vendors were so friendly, the guide was extremely interactive and well versed on the details of the tour, and the "wine down" at the end was an exquisite way to complete the tour. Donut miss this tour. I look forward to the others "coming soon."
