The interior was beautiful. I only wish that the food was as good. I won't return to this place. It seems the menu was a bit to complicated for the cook to understand.
Pros: Interior
Cons: Food

This resturant is fastly becoming a family favorite. My husband & I have been to Ama Ama several times on different occasions. And each time we are never disappointed. The staff is friendly & attentive. The courses are ample & delicious. We will continue to recommend & refer our friends, family & strangers to Ama Ama.
Pros: Oysters
Cons: N/A

I really did want this to work. An good mid range place for sea food and oysters in W. Seattle would be great. I wanted this to be something that was even marginaly close to Ovio in it's prime days. I forgave the Mac and Cheese swimming in oil. I forgave the half shelled oysters still hanging on to the lower shell. I forgave the overpriced drinks at happy hour. I forgive and overlook when folks honestly try and improve, but all I saw was the lean toward the pretentious in attempt to veil the poor quality and effort. When quality is not an option pretend to be elite.
Pros: nice furnishing
Cons: overall poor quality food (for the 4 items i have tried) attention to detail lacking

I thought that this place was very good! i actually liked everything else I had more than the Oysters! The Lamb Sliders are tops and the small plate Scallop was amazing. My husband and I went there for our 3 year anniversary and when I asked if we could be put in a corner for some privacy they were very accommodating. i like the fact that it is swanky but you don't have to get all dressed up. They have good wine and a good selection. We ordered a bunch of small things and shared them all and I love being able to taste everything. i will definitely go back.
Pros: Good location, fast service, good selection
Cons: The noise

The late night menu was just right. A bit of everything available. Shooter was great. Po'Boy Slider was great. Half shell live oysters were tasty, with a lovely sweet and vingary dipping juice. We chose non-spicey pommes frites. Hot, tasty, but a small portion. We were hungry after a late concert. Drinks were fine. We were blown away by the great choice of music: Getz-Gilberto, and lots of jazz and pop music to satisfy pre-boomers born in the '30's. Once I turned down the volume of my hearing aids, the loudness of the music was OK. We will be going back. Third trip back after 10 PM confirmed our first impressions. Hot tartar sauce on the oyster slider will bring us back again and again.
Pros: Seafood, drinks, music
Cons: Size of portion of pommes frites.

I visited Ama Ama the week between Christmas and New Year with my sister and her fiance who live in NYC...we were all disappointed. One of the topics of our conversation was how this restaurant would never make it in a big city (SF, NYC). Although the ambiance and decor of the restaurant is cool, I definitely had higher expectations for the food and service. Our server was very very young and didn't have a solid familiarity of the menu or even what the day's oysters were - bummer. Maybe it's just that after recently dining at Osteria la Spiga, Beato and Tavolata and having enjoyed professional servers who understand that dining is an experience, the difference in professionalism was very obvious and annoying. We ordered a bunch of items to share, the appetizer muscles was the best thing we ordered but it was served relatively cold. The oyster salad tasted like it had straight 1000 Island dressing on it, the lamb sliders were OK but uneventful, etc., etc., etc. I live in West Seattle and REALLY want this hip place to pull it together so that I will want to go there for something other than cocktails.
Pros: Hip decor, good cocktails, West Seattle, cool private dining room
Cons: Unprofessional servers, unimpressive food

We stopped in at Ama Ama, not knowing what to expect. I was pleased to see a menu that offered a wide variety, that was not overwhelming. My fiancee, who is a real foodie, reported that the proteins were cooked perfectly, the flavors were well balanced yet homey tasting, and the overall experience was one that she'd long remember. I was especially impressed with the value of the experience . . . unparalled food, service and value for the price! I''ll leave you with the small adventure of sorting out your particular dishes and drinks.

I love the vibe they have going here...I felt like I was in Hawaii! Menu is excellent; very diverse. Wine and cocktail list was superb. Our group shared alot of small plates and enjoyed all of it. The Mac n Cheese with fried oysters is the bomb!!! And the mussels! And the lamb sliders!!!! Our server, Ryan, was friendly, efficient and good at recommending things. I was not disappointed with anything about this place...can't wait to go back!! Thank you Ama Ama!!!
