Excellent food. my friend and I ordered the Double Cut Pork Chop . it was pretty good, it was more than enough for two people. the dessert was great. service was good too. this restaurant is small, so making an appointment would be a good idea.I would recommend to anyone who want to eat delicious French food.
Pros: food,service

Before coming to NYC I decided to research this Restaurant before committing as you may be doing now. Most of the reviews I read were very accurate. Yes, it can be a little noisy, but you have to expect that in NYC. Part of that noise reason is the NYC locals...they LOVE this place. When my wife and I arrived it was packed, not by tourists.....Locals. The service was very impressive. We made reservations and received two phone calls to confirm our seats prior to our arrival. Once we arrived we were seated immediately. The waiter was very professional and courteous. And the rest of the staff also made our stay very pleasant. At no point were our water glasses half full and the food delivery was well paced. Try the Crisp Green Beans!!! As for our main course, my wife had the Organic Chicken which was outstanding. I had the Pork Chop dinner which was very tender and moist but lacked a little flavor. That is the only negative comment I have. I promise you will not be disappointed. Treat yourselves to this wonderful Restaurant.
Pros: Atmosphere

I was taken to Red Cat last night on a date. the place is perfect for that. It was a bit crowded, but we got great attention from our server and the food was terrific. The only thing that i didn't like was the coleslaw that came with my unbelievable bbq quail. the steak was terrific and cooked exactly the way that i like it. I have heard great things about Red Cat and i definitely now totally agree!
Pros: Great Food and good wine list

My husband and I had dinner here last night and despite the noise that greeted us from the crowd of diners, we were treated to a wonderful evening of great service and delicious food. We were fortunately seated in the back which was quieter. Our waiter Mitchell was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We asked his suggestions and followed many of them in ordering. I began with the Cricket Ball (Mitchell's suggestion...a perfect drink for me...citrus, somewhat sweet and festive!). We then shared the arugula salad (split in the kitchen...and just enough). I had the skate wing as an entree (a lovely combination of flavors and a great presentation). My husband had the stripe bass special which was beautifully prepared with artichokes and fingerling potatoes. We also shared the tempura string beans in the hot/sweet mustard. It was plentiful, fresh and delicious...highly recommended. We ended the evening with a flavorful pistachio frozen confection which had thick bittersweet fudge sauce that was drizzled on by a server...a great touch...a memorable evening! With so many interesting menu items, we can't wait to go back!
Pros: great food and service
Cons: noisy

My girlfriend found Red Cat from citysearch, and I'm glad she did. We went last week, and the combination of great service and food made it the highlight among all the restaurants we visited while in NYC even compared to more expensive places. Mitchell was our waiter and the service was absolutely perfect by him and all the wait staff. Extremely attentive yet unobtrusive, and never had to ask for anything. Skatewing and fried green beans were delicious (the beans were unique and had good spicy mustard sauce - one order definitely large enough for 2). My girlfriend said the foie gras appetizer was the best she'd had (she orders it almost every place it's offered). This is the first review I've ever written of any place I've been, so needless to say, I highly recommend.

Thursday night was my husband and my 10th wedding anniversary. When I called the Red Cat to confirm our reservation for dinner, I told the reservationist that it was our 10th anniversary and requested a good table. She said she'd reserve one of the corner tables. Due to terrible traffic I ended up being 15 minutes late. My husband was already at the restaurant and told the staff I was late, and they were incredibly nice about it, telling him not to worry and to enjoy a cocktail. I finally arrived, and they brought us to our table, which was in a cozy corner of the restaurant. Next they surprised us each with a glass of champagne to congratulate us. That alone would have left me very pleased with our experience. It got even better. Our server was very knowledgeable and helped us in selecting our wine (an excellent sancerre), appetizers (the seared diver scallops and tempura green beans), and entrees (the salmon and the brook trout). Everything was excellent. The sugar snap, shiitaki, and cream corn sauce and the artichoke-cucumber salad complemented the fish wonderfully. Service was nicely paced, and we never felt rushed. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience and a great way to celebrate our anniversary.

Went to The Red Cat last week and was very impressed with the entire experience. Great ambiance, attractive setting.....busy, but not loud and crowded. Had the worst table in the place, but the food and service more than made up for it. I had the "heart-stopper special" (not their terminology.....mine) Seared Fois Gras with Grapes and Nuts.....WOW, and Calf's Liver that was perfectly cooked....pink. The wine list was fairly extensive, and a few items seemed dramatically overpriced, but I had a reasonably priced Malbec that was very good. Oh yes, the cheese plate was an ample portion of 5 selections and was delicious. Overall, this should be rated RR for "Return Running"
Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service
Cons: Careful with that Wine list

Didn't think getting a table during summer on 10th ave would be a big deal, but this palce was busy! The hostess told us it would be a short wait for a table and we could get a drink at the bar, then sent the other girl over after ten minutes saying due to a cancellation the could seat us now. In a city where I've been treated like the restaurant is doing me a favor, it was nice to be seated right when something was available. The server and food were the best part. He was really sweet, and another table actually took their picture with him. My steak was out of this world and my husband loved his pork chop, although he felt the soft shell appetizer was too vinegary. I tried it and thought it was fine. My only complaint: VERY loud. Other than that, eveything was great.
Pros: Friendly staff, from door to service
Cons: Too Loud

I feel so lucky to find this NYC gem on my recent trip to the city. I loved the cozy, warm, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Everyone we encountered (host to busboys) were extremely nice and our server was knowledgable, sweet, and helpful. We received no pretense when we decided to order cocktails throughout the meal instead of wine. My boyfriend and I started with the heirloom tomato salad , which had wonderful light flavor, and the scallops, which were to die for. The scallops melted in your mouth with the most amazing flavor and a great sauce. For dinner we shared the skate wing. It was very good, a little too citrusy for my taste, but very well prepared regardless. We also had a side of the tempura green beans and mustard which were actually as fun to eat as they were yummy. I definitely plan to come back here when we visit NYC again!
Pros: Food, service, ambience... everything!
Cons: Absolutely nothing

I am in love with the peach and panchetta risotto here...it was the best combination of salty and sweet. The atmosphere is nice in a very understated way. Our waiter was fantastic. The only complaint i had was the dessert. I had the chocolate cake and it tasted like it had been frozen. i can't wait to try the harrison.
Pros: panchetta, atmosphere, service
Cons: dessert
