Upon moving to NYC, I didn't know where to go for a reasonably priced but stylish haircut. I happened by Jeffrey Stein Salon on my way home from work one night and I don't plan to ever go anywhere else! Celine is a fabulous listener who spent a good deal of time talking with me about what I wanted and did exactly that. I felt that she really cared about making sure I was happy and I left with an awesome cut that was current and manageable. Great atmosphere, never snobby and always fantastic!

This is one of those rare salons that is top-notch, but doesn't have major attitude. In particular, Sergio is a great colorist...
Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, talented staff
Cons: Pricey (but not prohibitively so)

This location, at Columbus and 84th, has professional staff and a serene atmosphere. I've never had a bad cut there. The prices of the stylists range from reasonable to expensive, but even the stylists on the low end are good.
Pros: Relaxing and serene., Talented stylists.
Cons: Can get expensive,, but worth the price.

These people are the best on the Upper Westside -- i used to pay nearly $200 on Madison Avenue but i've tried a few people for cuts and they are all amazing. I also got my hair highlighted and it was incredible. The salon is very comfortable and there is zero attitude
Pros: Excellent work, No attitude, Reasonably priced

i was recenlty refered to Jeffery Stein Salon by a girlfriend who had her whole wedding party done by the stylists at Jeffery Stein. I must say the staff is very friendly and they all offered ideas and tips on what to do about my problem hair. I took their advise and returned a few weeks later and not only did i get the cut i wanted, but i got a complimentary head massage. The color was excellent, the cut was to die for, and I am so happy. Thanks Guys !
Pros: staff, experience, service
Cons: no parking, always busy
