Editorial Review for Georgetown Liquor Company – by Anna Roth
In Short
Set in the ground floor an old liquor company right off the railroad tracks, it isn't the most likely setting for a vegetarian/vegan restaurant--but this Georgetown dive admirably pays homage to its roots while looking to the future. Retro video games (Atari, Asteroids) keep 20-somethings occupied; groups of locals camp out in the big wooden booths. The all-vegetarian menu features a large selection of sandwiches, many packed with Georgetown's own Field Roast meat substitute.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThere are a few entrances to the bar--one from the gravel parking lot to the west, the other from 8th Avenue. Parking in Stellar Pizza's large lot could result in a ticket. Also Entrees are not available for takeout.
What to DrinkThere's plenty of beer on tap, but the house cocktails ("boozy treats" on the menu) shouldn't be overlooked--especially the refreshing "Mike's Pirate Grog" made with Captain Morgan, lime juice, Barcardi and sugar.
The ExtrasAll menu items can be served vegan; just ask.
Happy HourCheap wells and $1.50 PBR drafts (Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm).

This place has the feel of a popular neighborhood restaurant. The closest thing to an English pub that I have seen in America. The waiter is friendly and very attentive. And the food....well it has a huge array of vegetarian specialties that are often original and delicious. The prices are very reasonable. The freshness of the greens will send you into orbit. This place is every bit as good as Cafe Flora but it has real people and a working class atmosphere. What a find!
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Not sure you can bring kids in here.

I'm almost hesitant to share this, as GLC has sort of an undergound feel which I appreciate, but I also think the business deserves to thrive, and that people will love it! All the food ROCKS, even if you're not a veggie or vegan. The lentil-sage field roast in some of the sandwiches is a great alternative to all-soy vegan food we see everywhere, and it's delicous. The roasted veggie platter is divine, and the brie-apricot-field roast-arugula sandwich is my standby. I love the bartenders--I always feel like a pal, and the drinks are very strong (order less strong if that's what you prefer). All this, and it's pretty cheap!
Pros: FOOD & DRINKS!
Cons: If you don't dig divey atmospheres, forget it.
